Home made tree ornaments - use felt and sequins, paper, photographs, beads, there is no limit!

Artwork of any kind - sentimental grandparents LOVE this! It can be a drawing, a Play-doh sculpture, a bead necklace/tree ornament

A small scrapbook or collage of photos that show what the kids did during the past year.

See links below for more ideas.

How about those T shirts with the kids handprints in paint? Or an apron, book bag, or what ever it is that the grandparents would use... Add a cute saying about grandma/pa. I think those are cute.

UPDATE: Try to make it useful, as well as cute with sentimental value. Older people tend to have enough "cute" stuff, and some of them don't have a lot of room to display/store the stuff.
If it can't be useful, the ornament idea sounds good, because they can pull it out and enjoy it at Christmas, and store it with the tree the rest of the year.

Another update: A lot of older folks don't even want anything to sit around or store, so heres an idea that maybe you can use: Go and buy all the ingredients to make cookies, brownies, peanut brittle, or what ever your parents can eat. Then go and make it WITH the grandparents, because the Time spent with them may be more important to them than any other gift.
Also, how about coupon books for hugs, walks, dinner at your house...

Yes, well I'm only a kid but I am going to make some gifts for my teachers and family and I have a couple of fun Ideas. One idea that lots of children like is the cookie jar gift. The cookie jar gift is a gift that you make by getting a jar. Getting your favorite cookie recipe and filling the ingredients layer by layer in the jar. Then when you are finished you can put fabric under the lid, close the jar and get another piece of fabric and a rubber band and place the two over the jar for decoration! When done, they can paint or decorate the jar with any cool designs that they would like to put on it. It is a family fun thing to do every Christmas. Here's a tip, if you don't have a jar you can use a mayo, or spaghetti jar if you like. Here is another useful tip. When you pour the ingredient in go from the last thing to the first thing up. Well I hope this was a little useful. please write back if you used it or if you have any questions! My email- sillylittlefairy@sbcglobal.net

Paint and glue four popsicle stick together to make a frame. Glue some magnets to the back and stick a picture of the g-kid to the center. Have them write the words Merry Xmas on the frame.

We've been re-sticking our g-kid's "gift" on our fridge for years now.

It lives in a plastic bag with all the other Xmas stuff and we revive it during the holiday season.
