I don't believe in God. There are many reasons for this, but having examined the evidence, my personal opinion is that God does not exist. I cannot tell my brain to work differently and come up with an opposite conclusion, and I cannot simply pretend to believe because there would be no point. Even if there were a point, it wouild still hold that i don't truly believe.

Conversely, someone of religion has examined all the evidence available to them and has come to the conclusion that there is a god/gods. They cannot make their brain work differently in order to reach a different conclusion.

In light of this, does it stand to reason that belief is not a choice, but a personal condition dependant on environment, upbringing and the workings of an individual brain?

Me, gay. got a live in boyfriend, 6 yrs now. I have loved another guy for 20. He was "straight" until last year. I went thru denial, big time. I could not have him, because he was straight. I moved on, physically, and sort of emotionally. My heart was broken when he came out. Obviously, i wasn't what he wanted, but i still want, and cannot have, him.
tomorrow, at this gathering, I meet the guy he's dating. I'm very jealous, of course. I have trouble talking about this guy. When i say his name, my b/f says "why do you sneer when you say his name?"
I need an emo-suppressant for dinner tomorrow. I could take a rubber band and snap it on my wrist if bad thoughts occur. I'll be driving, so drinking won't work, but maybe lots of caffeine? I have this icon my cousin made for me of a lightswitch in the "off" position, labeled "EMOTION" I'll make a card and keep it in my pocket.
Any other ideas?
Emotions suck!!

I read this in a critique of modern atheism by James Woods (quel surprise; he's actually a very intelligent man and an atheist himself) and I thought this was a great observation:

"In heaven, it seems, all tears will be wiped away and we will be free of pain and suffering. We will also be free of freedom--necessarily so, because if freedom were to exist in heaven, we would merely replicate our lives on earth and start doing terrible things to each other again. Heaven, as an intellectual category as much as an "actual place," depends on the idea that the highest form of happiness--to be face to face with our Maker, and so on--is a state without freedom, or with severely curtailed freedom. But if this is the ideal state, the state that our Creator longs to have us in, then why was heaven not instituted on earth? Since heaven was not created on earth, we must conclude that our lives here are more or less painful experiments, and that the world is a training ground for heaven."

Evaluate these scenarios.Someone who wears glasses is looking for them and can't find them.he persons searches thoroughly. After the person gives up and prays, the glasses appear. They are in a location- in the open- where the person has searched; and they were not there. This scenario is repeated with documents, money etc.Somone puts money in the pocket and goes to the shop. After buying the groceries, the person searches the pockets for the money and it is not there.Later in the day, the person finds the money in the pocket. What are the ages? They are 45-60. One time the milk disappeared out of the refrigerator and the daughter of the individual remarked that the god of this world blinds the eyes. She prayed about it.The milk reappeared ;and she slid on money she had lost while getting out of bed the next morning. She found the balance of the money under the bed when she knelt to get something that had fallen behind the bed.Cast your vote for aging or demonic forces at work.

3: He was despised and rejected by men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
4: Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted.
5: But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that made us whole, and with his stripes we are healed.
-Isaiah, chapter 53

6: For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government will be upon his shoulder, and his name will be called "Wonderful Counselor, MIGHTY GOD, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."
-Isaiah, chapter 9

In the New Testament, Jesus says in 3 of the Gospels that He is the Lord of the Sabbath (Matthew 12:8, Mark 2:28, Luke 6:5), and Jesus said that He existed before Abraham and calls Himself "I AM" which is the name that God identified Himself to Moses at the burning bush (John 8:58).

I've been having this debate with someone about Donnie McClurkin's sexual preference-and she happens to be Black, like me. Here was her last entry, followed by my answer. Read carefully, and then give me your opinion.
Message: homosexuality is a choice 4 some those not born w/some kind of glandular disease or something of that nature. pls don't go there w/me; God made Adam & Eve not Adam & Steve; the rear is an exit not an entrance; look what comes out of it s..t! so that form of sex is disgusting and physically harmful no less! u have the choice 2 believe what u want. i don't judge but i know right f/wrong. hey he could've a *** til his 30's but i hope 2 God he is sincere 4 his own sake and is not anymore and if he's not, the person that took his soul is rotting in hell no matter what u believe/say. i don't buy into that blacks should buy into the "white" agenda of "accepting" homosexuality - as soon as we "buy" into their way of life we get more screwed up. Genocide is going down now big time. U go along w/their program if u want 2. i don't buy the white hype!

Many people aren't able to leave their place of residence or nursing homes due to illness, old age, and other reasons. Also, people in prisons have limited contact with others. Are there any provisions or opportunities for these people to have Bible studies if they desired them? Are there any organizations who visit shut-ins or inmates, taking the Bible Study to them? Thanks
