Everyone is born with a sin nature. We all even as babies sin (crying like they have been hurt so badly and really just want to be held). Its not a matter of confusing the two they can be considered one and the same. Being born with a sin nature gives us the potential to sin. We are immune to the repercussions of sin until we reach the age where we know right from wrong. After that time passes we have a choice to make.....to sin and do what we know we shouldn't or take the right path and do what we should. Granted we can always ask for forgivenss of those sins as long as we do it with a repentant heart. There is nothing that any of us can say that we wouldn't never do because we all have the ability to do it. We just make the choice at that moment whether or not to take advantage of the ability!

It is possible that from their early concern with the ascetic life and warped attitudes about normal human functions, Christianity has made some horrible confusion between pleasure and sin or between gratification and righteousness. There was a time among the Puritans when laughter itself was suspect, and was discouraged among children.
Now that Christians have begun to outgrow and cast off some of the most perverted of their attitudes, we are confronted with Islam which appears to be in the early and violent phase of its attitudes about bodily matters, and we ourselves are suffering the serious restraint on self-indulgence imposed by new and terrifying sexually transmitted diseases.
It is interesting to watch the zealots assigning these horrible disorders to the punitive disposition of their benevolent deity, even as they themselves contract them.
The disposition to "sin" is the disposition to respond to the drives for affection and hormonal gratification that are normal in all normal human beings. The idea that we are born sin should be destroyed for any mentally undisturbed person by looking at a new born. That some of us come to feel burning shame and guilt as a result of religious teachings seems fairly demonstrable.
Of all the absurdities in Hebrew Scripture, the Serpent and the apple is the most easily dismissed; it is the appearance of the fig leaf, my beloved sinners, that has continued over the centuries to punish you.

We are born with sin. Since the Fall of man, sin is something that we are apart of, but the Holy Spirit overshadowed Mary while she gave birth to Jesus, so no original sin was passed on. If we weren't born with sin, then it would be possible for you or me to live a sinless life. That would mean we don't need Jesus, we do need Jesus though. Just as our bodies are degenerating, we are permanently marked with sin. (Until we accept Christ.)

If you're born with the sin nature, it is possible to potentially commit a sin (any sin). What do you mean they aren't the same?

Ps. 51:5, JB: “You know I was born guilty, a sinner from the moment of conception.” (See also Job 14:4; Genesis 8:21.)
Rom. 3:23; 6:23: “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God . . . The wages sin pays is death.”

It is because of original sin that we have a fallen nature. Even if you get baptize and remove that sin the effects of the sin remain and thus we tend towards sin.

I think we are all sinful in nature, due to the 'becoming like Gods'
I think of a child who is just starting to learn, they are greedy, they throw fits, they manipulate. It take the parents to lead them to do right (by god's or society's standards) for them to be able to learn self control.

I agree with you, they are so completely different~!!!
People are never born with sin
they are only born, already knowing how to sin~
People are just confused by all different kinds of sayings..

Sure, its possible to confuse the two.
All of us have the potential to sin and all of us have lived up to that potential.

People are born with blank slates.
Being fallible human beings, we sometimes make mistakes.
So yes, I think it's possible that it's been confused.
