It should be classed as a planetoid, or dwarf planet. Mercury is regarded as a planet and I believe it is smaller than Pluto. Also, Jupiter is gaseous and is classed as a planet, so why these scientists in their so-called wisdom downgrading Pluto is beyond me. In that case there are only three real planets in our solar system going by their standards that is Venus, Earth and Mars. This is going by way of their so-called logic in determining what is , or isn't a planet.
The moon could even be classed as a planet. It is bigger than pluto and has a solid surface. Whatever logic they are using is beyond me in their classification of planets, but Pluto will always have planet status to me while I am alive.

Absolutely not. In fact a lot of scientists were angry about it. The vote was held sneakily at the end of a conference and a lot of the astronomers who thought it should be kept as a planet had left while those who thought it should be downgraded had stayed to carry it forward.
I think the fact that its big enough to keep it fairly circular is sufficient reason for it to remain a planet even apart from the fact that it should have remained a planet since it had traditionally been known as one. Of course there's no going back now so we're stuck with it.

it makes sense. All the planets up to jupiter are rocky, and after jupiter, there are gas giants: saturn, uranus, neptune, pluto. Wait . . . pluto is a midget rock. . . Scientists belive it is actually Neptune's moon that got away. Makes sense, they cross paths.
There is planet x and more, and even though they are the same as pluto (very far away from the Sun, rocky, pitched orbit), they have been deemed minor planets or asteriods of the Kuiper belt around the solar system. The only reason we have been keeping pluto after discovering these Kuiper asteriods is on principal.

I used to imagine Jupiter wearing a shirt with S. U. N. (Saturn Uranus, Neptune) Pluto sat on his head, it helped me to remember the order of the planets, now poor Pluto's joining the seven dwarfs, never I say!

Well, if size is going to disqualify Pluto from being a planet, does this now mean that (on similar grounds) some men will discover that what they have doesnt count as a willie?

P.C lot have stated that dwarf planet is offensive. It must be called planet of the little people. Glad we cleared that up.

I didn't like the idea at first, but it does seem to make sense considering all the other objects found. Then again if it has it's own moon maybe an exception should be made.
