Society & Culture - 5 December 2006

I am in th 7th grade. My dear friend's father, to whom she is very close to, is dying of Brain cancer. He only has a few weeks to live, and it is now the Holiday Season. Please, this is not mandatory, but if I can have your prayer, to pray for her, her family, friends, and mostly her father that he lives. I'm not trying to force any religion, and please do not misinterprate this. She is a wonderful girl, who is ALWAYS happy. She is hilarious all the time, and is sooo nice. She doesn't desverve tradgedy. Thank you.

To me it would be like someone asking why are people straight?just wondering it seems like alot of homophobic straight people have so much to say (mostly negative) about something they know so little about. ie...being gay or lesbian..NOT being around a gay or lesbian. big difference.

Say you're living life and doing all the things you think are right. Turns out God/Allah/Buddha/Jehovah/Other thinks you totally screwed up and sends your butt to hell or something like it.

My true question is: Do you believe in your beliefs because you hold it true in your heart or because it's the "rules" in order to go to "heaven".

We frequent restaurants with servers quite often. Depending on where we go, our bill comes out to anywhere from $10 to $20. If the server is attentive, i.e., refills our drinks, and is at least polite/cordial, we will tip the server $5; however, we have been known to tip $10 if the service goes above and beyond, and one time we tipped $20 (on a $13 or $14 food bill). Do we need to tip more? I can't help but feel that $5 is not enough. I'm sure in the bigger cities like LA and New York, I bet they tip a whole lot more than $5 or $10. (We live in an big college town in Oklahoma -- population 15,000 -- and we have lots of restaurants here. We also occasionally dine in Tulsa as well -- which is a major city of 300,000. Maybe we need to tip more in Tulsa?)

homosexuals become hate speech? I am on a discussion board about religion and I cant speak the truth that comes straight from the BIBLE without getting my question deleted? What about all the people on here that say aweful things about CHRISTIANITY and JESUS...is that not hate speech? What must I do to prove to christians that Poseidon is God of the Sea?

For now, I will pray to Poseidon to send at least 1 hurricane sometime in the next 24 months as PROOF of his awesome power.

I would like for all of you to pray to your god to stop this hurricane so that we can see who's god has power over the sea.

christmas isactually derived from a pagan holliday, the tree is a pagan symbol of renewal of life. the eating of ham, the holly, the mistletoe, the giving of presents, are alll pagan traditions."
the only thing christian about christmas is that you pretend christ was born on this day, which every biblical scholar knows christ wasnt actually born on december 25th.
