O.K. When in an evening gown competition, should the shoes match the color of the body of the dress or should it match the color of the trim? For example, if the dress is black with silver sequin trim should the shoes be black or silver? shiny or matte?

I hear non-believers say that a lot. And if they choose to believe that there is NO God, then they would be partially correct. The Bible would, in that case, be good for NO period of time.

But if they accept the possibility of God, then why does it follow, to them, that he would change, and his rules would change?

I think of math. 2+2=4. it id two thousand years ago and it still does. it is STILL for today.
The Bible tells us that God does not change. So why would his word not be for today?
It seems to me that if it did change, it would not be for today, because we would not know where either, he nor us, stand.

What is it that makes atheists decide to not to believe in God?
I am not trying to offend anyone, but I am really curious about atheism.

"It is easier for Heaven and Earth to pass away than for the smallest part of the letter of the law to become invalid." (Luke 16:17) Doesn't this mean that the Old Testament is still in effect?

"Know this first of all, that there is no prophecy of scripture that is a matter of personal interpretation, for no prophecy ever came through human will; but rather human beings moved by the holy Spirit spoke under the influence of God." (2 Peter 20-21) Doesn't this mean that the scriptures are not to be interpreted as laws that do not apply to us today?

“For the law was given by Moses,..." (John 1:17) Doesn't this mean that we still should follow the laws that were described in the Torah (the first 5 books which were written by Moses)? Or do you think it only refers to the 10 Commandments?

“...the scripture cannot be broken.” --Jesus Christ, John 10:35. I am not sure how this explains that the OT is no longer in effect. In fact, it seems to be saying the opposite.

you die?? Seriously, once you're there, you'll know it is true. Faith will no longer be required. Faith is what He asked for. Is it really justice to ask for your faith and then let you choose after you see the proof??? Kinda defeats the purpose doesn't it??

Hebrews 9:27 Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, (Note, there's no second chance mentioned before the judgment)

How logical is it to live as you wish, then hope that if God is real, you'll have a second chance??

(Don't bother answering "it isn't real" - I want answers based on the assumption that it is true.)

and why all the religious hatred? hate breeds hate
if someone feels the need to follow their faith let them do it, why dont we ignore the extremist, you ignore something it goes away after a while. I am Muslim and i dont like the way we all get catgorised as extremists.

pick any religon you can think of and you have an institution built on ignorance dedicated to the control of the masses. if you disagree with them you are condemned to suposed eternal damnation or are killed in the name of god just to keep priests in power. they tell you what happens when you die but in reallity they are as cluless as the rest of us, fear of the unknown being used to keep you in line and obediant. how many more years will killing in the name of god, prophet or priest continue.

absolutely sure that we don't jump to conclusions?

(and yes, though sincerely asked question, this is also partly an apology to Solomon Redux!)

In this context, there are many words that if not properly examined, lead us to peg the asker in certain categories. Prayer, for example (prayer can take many forms, not only Christian), in this case, for me, it was the introduction of modern scientific knowledge.

Since, so many times on the R and S board, the introduction of science into a question or argument, is a prelude to a condmemnation of theists of any stripes as stupid and backward for believing in a God when we have all this scientific knowledge, I automatically assumed that this is where he? (I'm asuming again, hope I'm not doubly wrong!) was going with his question.

And I was wrong. So Solomon, i apologize! And for everyone else, I ask, how much of the problems and conflicts on this board are based on the placement of askers into a stereotype based on buzz words?

You die tomorrow and you don't get into heaven. Your first thought is to question yourself on why you didn't get into heaven. So what about your life could you be punished over? Is there anything you could have done better or not done at all?
Keep in mind this is just hypothetical! I'm not looking for Godly answers, I'm just looking for personal best guess answers. If there is something you have done or do that you might not have thought you would be punished for but hypothetically do?
