What is it that makes atheists decide to not to believe in God?
I am not trying to offend anyone, but I am really curious about atheism.

What happened with me is that I decided to read the Bible through, cover to cover. I started this as a teenager, then stopped because I did not believe it. I was worried about my salvation so I searched for answers but could not find any good ones.

As an adult I started reading the Bible again. This time I did not have the same pressures from my parents and could think for myself. I simply could not believe it any more. Thats all that happened. Nothing magical or earth moving. I just couldn't believe it.

I am not so sure that I don't believe in a creator. I definitely believe in a higher power. I just don't believe the Bible.

Athiesm is a religion, cause they choose it. There are people who are confused about what to believe, who are not athiest, they just don't know what to believe in. And as a engineer, nobody seems to realize how complicated it is to create something. People haven't even come close to creating something as complex as a cell, or even a whole organism. Also consider something as simple as water. Water is the essence of everything living, and it's properties are so specific, such as having a tiny bit of polarity so it can be used to transport, and be soluable to substances. Also water regulates the temperature of the whole earth so that living organisms can survive. There so many properties to water that corelates to the existence of living organisms. So how can water, which is a chemical compound, just have happened? It's creation you dummies. Learn your biology, than maybe you'll start changing your ideologies.

Also Science is just a process of trying to understand the world. It neither denounces the existence of God or says God exists. Science is about facts. So it's up to the individual to make that decision of if there is a God or not. But as an engineer, you can't even imagine the complexity of even a simple organism. Ever heard of homeostasis? well let's just say, Humans, and all life is the best machines ever created.

Surprisingly no. Many atheists start out as theists, and they simply could not keep the real world and the spiritual world in their head. You don't really have a choice in the matter - it actually takes more mental effort/acrobatics to believe than not to believe. It's basically the idea that you can no longer delude yourself any further.

Atheism is their belief system, or religion if you will. They believe that there is no God.
That is what their whole doctrine revolves around. that is what their faith is in. The faith and belief that there is no God.

And, of course, they act just like a religious institution would...They acquire funding to propagate their religion and dogma throughout the world. They have a following of fellow athiests who base their religious foundations on the belief that there is no God.

It could be a couple of things, bad experiences with religion and those who follow it, or it could be the need of a person to use rational thought to come to certain conclusions about things and not letting emotional feelings to guide their decisions. Or it could be just the way they were raised. It goes both ways you know, there are a lot of people who force their children to go to church.

To me, that's like saying that I chose to like pizza. I didn't choose how I felt, but I chose to act on how I felt, to 'come out' if you will. So yes, certain things make people not believe in God, but the majority of us just feel that way because it's what we feel.

It is a natural result of studying the origin of the christian faith and where the bible came from.

The more you know about where it came from the more likely it becomes that everything that it says about God is nonsense.

Few ever realize that just because someone told them lies about God it does not necessarily mean that God is not real.

It took me years to realize that just because I had been told lies about God, He/She could still exist.

evidence - pure and simple. If there was a shred of evidence for the existence of God I'd be the first to sign up - but, sadly there isn't

Well it is not a gift from god.

Did you think there was some kind of gene that will not let us believe? Another surprise for you: Most of us have actually read the bible. More than once. How about you?
