Scripture tells us there will be "a new heaven [that is, sky] and a new earth" (Rev. 21:1). If we have a new body, we need a new Earth: bodies are not for drifting in empty space. And if a world, why a dead world, like the moon, rather than a world brimming with life, like this Earth? I think we will have a much more intimate relationship with nature than we do now, not less. I think the images of the nature mystics and pantheist poets are almost right, but as prophecy: In the heavenly future we will get inside the secret of life that we now stare at as outsiders.
C. S. Lewis suggests, in his great sermon "The Weight of Glory," that the reason we have peopled the Earth with gods and goddesses is so that these projections of ours can do what we long to do but cannot do, or at least cannot do yet: touch the inner secret of the beauty we see in nature. "But all the leaves of the New Testament are rustling with the rumor that it will not always be so. Some day, God willing,we will get in"

Today my grandmother came to my house and I stood next to her to see it I was as tall as her yet. I wasn't quite, but then my grandmother said, "You may not be as tall as me, but you're beautiful, and have a lovely figure." This made me really uncomfortable and I didn't know what to say! Am I overreacting and this is just a compliment or do I have a reason to feel kind- of uncomfortable about this?

Why didn't Jesus write His own Gospel of what He actually said?

It is said that all the writings in the New Testament were inspired by the holy spirit, to explain all the writings as truth and so that people would believe them!!

The exact words of Jesus are believable, but do we have them today? Jesus did not write his own gospel?

Everything in the scriptures is taken in blind faith and blind obediance.

I respect and accept those that choose to believe the scriptures, but they do not have all they're information straight from the source!!

I think not. Christ still had his wounds. But they were badges of glory, not suffering and sadness. I think everything—in the body, in the soul, and in the person's world—that was offered to God and taken up into the eternal kingdom will be preserved and transformed and glorified in Heaven: but everything that was not—everything that was not the work of God or of the sanctified soul but was of the world, the flesh, or the devil—will be left outside Heaven's gate. The martyrs' wounds will glow like gold, but the amputee's limb will be restored, and so will the brain-damaged person's intelligence. God's justice and mercy are perfect, and so is his style.

I think we will be as we are now: equal in worth and dignity, equal in being loved by God. But will we be equal in the sense of the same? God forbid! One of the chief pleasures of this life, as of the next, is the mutual sharing of different excellences, the pleasure of looking up to someone who is better than we are at something and learning from him or her. The resentment expressed in saying, "I'm just as good as you are" is hellish, not heavenly. (By the way, that is one sentence that always means the opposite of what it says. No one who says it believes it.)

Tonight while Trick or Treating with my girlfriend's daughter, she recieved a pamphlet saying that Trick or Treating was bad and I should repent from doing this basically. Here's the question...Do you think its right for Christians(the name of the church was on stamped on the back of it) to sit on their porch smiling while handing out "propaganda" against the very thing they are doing?

Personally, I wish I remembered what house it came from, I have about 8 rolls of tp and a half a case of soap.

When we die, we will be dead and have no further access to any senses like sight or hearing. You will be as you were before you were born, that is, you wont be alive.

Religious people use this tired expression as a lazy substitute for thinking. So, instead of reasoning through a question and thoughtfully answering it, they will parrot back this simpleton religious cliche "oooh, you will see when you die and you will be sorry".

Its as if they want you to assume that despite their inability to think critically, they neverthless are fully aware of the exact parameters of life and death, and you, despite your plainly superior intellect and ability to express your thoughts, dont.

Do you think these simple little people would have a heart attack if you responded to their simple little religious cliche with "Im persuaded, it was the passionately tone in your voice that won me over, clearly, although you have no ability to explain to me why you know this, you clearly do, and I dont"

I seem to recall that in form the prayers were similar to Luther's morning and evening prayers, but they were written especially for shut-ins.
