He was too busy preaching it.

Jesus did not write on purpose.
If i put two books in front of anyone and said one was written by man with every word inspired by God and the other was written directly from the Son of God which would they read as believable.
I agree that humans are flawed, but that is what makes a story believable to us. If 4 men all tell the same story about an event then it seems as though they made it up. If 4 men tell similar stories about the same event, we get the important information and we will believe its true (after all the 4 men would have seen things differently and will focus on different points).
So perhaps in light of this we should accept that Jesus did not write agospel so that we might read the texts and use our knowledge of the different perpectives to receive the most from His teachings.

Few of us have all the information straight from the source. I buy a car with a warranty, but the designer, lead welder, company purchaser don't talk to me. especially try it in an ER!
Periodically a PR splash is made of scholars who seek to identify the "real words" of Jesus from the Gospels. The value of their efforts is mirrirored in the obscurity of their results.
Why didn't Jesus write his own Gospel? According to Jesus, he did not need to. He sent his Spirit who would write it in the heart of every believer - which is the OT prophecy as well by the way.
Thanks for asking an articulate question.

How would you know a real Gospel if you saw one, without the authority of the Church testifying to the truth of it?
In the end, all we have as security for our beliefs is faith in Jesus and his Church.
Technically though, the Holy Spirit dictating to the sacred writers is 100% as reliable as Jesus writing his own Gospel, since God is one.

Ah, so what proportion of people in the ancient times were literate? Heck, what is the proportion of people in 2006 that are literate?
Jesus taught by orating.
And, no it is not blind faith. In fact, it is with eyes wide open evaluating the evidence that leads one intellectually to know that the story of Jesus probably happened as recorded. But does that mean that everyone who evaluates will believe? No. Because we are granted the gift of free will. Free will to ignore what our eyes, our minds and the universe tells us.
But please continue in your blind ignorance, just realize that you do not have the intellectual high ground in this discussion.

Well almost every religion is like that:
Almost every book in Judaism was written after the fact
lao tzu, and chuang tze (i think) of Taoism their teachings were also written after they were long gone.
the Koran, same thing it was not written by Muhammed himself rather somebody else wrote it for him
That's the thing about any type of " holy" scriptures...its all about faith.

If "The Gospel of Jesus Christ," an account of Christ's life claiming to have been written by Christ himself, were discovered, would you believe it?
Your argument is saying that the only biographies we should give any credence to are autobiographies.

Apparently he did....according to some believers, but considering the bible wasnt written until about 300 years after his death, by the Nicean council, under the ruling of Emporor Constantine, (formerly a pagan). i dont see how that is possible......do you?
Yet another reason why christianity doesnt make sense......

If President George Washington wanted books written about him why didn't he write them his self..
If Abraham Lincoln wanted bboks written about himwhy didn't he write them his self.
make any sense??
they did not write one book but the library is full of literature about them.
Kings spoke and others wrote..
wise men spoke--others wrote
professors speak- students write and take notes
Jesus preached and taught to people-performed miracles and wonders -others took note and.. wrote down what he said and did...
he was the man--

Jesus came as God in body, to save us, to lead us, to show us the way, he took us by the hand, with baby steps in mind.
God, all he ever wanted was a family, we are made in his likeness, he wants to be loved and thought of the way you want it.God is so great, and sensitive- compassionately, and loud and strong.
God works through different men in different ways, but it is the same God who achieves his purposes through them all. 1 Corinthians 12:6
Man is inspired by God working through his heart to write, for God's purposes. Jesus knew they would keep his word in their hearts to be written down on paper. If Jesus came to you and to tell you this and that, you would keep them words in heart, and preach them in order to learn more.
Peace and love be with you!

It is always better to have witnesses, it makes it more credible especially when all of them were martyred for the truth they knew. Do you think so???
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" Romans 3:23
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23
"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Romans 10:9-10
