Why do christians think they have to party because the world does. And they think its ok because everybody does it. If they would read and research just a little about what witches and covens do that night it might change what they think about it. It is not innocent. Al hallows eve is not christian either. Catholic started it to pray dead people out of purgatory.

"Now I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God. Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head. And every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head...If a woman does not cover her head, she should have her hair cut off; and if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut or shaved off, she should cover her head"

You don't need to name names, a description will do. Unless, of course, you want to honor them. Then be my guest.

In what way(s) have they touched you?

I'm a 29y.o. gay male who met another guy online several years ago. We talk almost everyday on the phone, but have "yet" to meet in real life. He has admitted to me that he has feelings towards me, as I do for him. I value our friendship greatly, but when he mentions he's going out with a guy on a date, "why" do I get "extremely" jealous?! I'll admit it, I would love to date him, but I know that geographically it's not feasible. Is it wrong for me to think like this? Should I tell him how I feel? Ideas / Thoughts / Suggestions? Thank-you SO much!

to show why the English language is hard to learn. Here is a sentence I created. It doesn't make sense, but it illustrates the oddities of the English language;

"For the picnic, the bee had to be sure to have two pairs of pears too."

It is no wonder why people from other countries have problems learning the English language. Is this a good illustration to the problems of learning English?

As an atheist (and one-time Christian), I've often wondered about this:

If you're religious, wouldn't you want to be a 'fundamentalist' and believe in the literal meaning of the holy book, rather than a 'moderate' who follows a 'watered-down' version (for lack of a better phrase).

And I know that Christians understand the Bible was written by men, after the event, so it could contain some errors. But what about the Quran, isn't that the direct word of God, so people should follow it to the letter or not bother?

I'm hoping for some interesting answers, not the usual 'you're going to Hell, don't criticise my religion' stuff.

I apologize in advance for the length. Anyway...so I am part of a volunteer organization. A few nights ago I was hanging out at our building with some of the other members. One of them did something to me that was legitimately bothersome and completely uncalled-for. After he fell asleep, I played a couple of small pranks that caused him MAYBE 5 minutes of basic inconvenience and no permanent damage, physical or otherwise - changed one of the phone numbers in his cell phone, hid his sweatshirt (badly hidden, for the record), that sort of thing. Anyway some other guys, without my involvement, later played some more severe pranks on him, which caused our organization's president to get involved. Long story short, he wants me to write a letter to be read out loud at our next monthly meeting in front of most of our members. Should I write it? I would not be further disciplined either way and I want to get him off my back, but on principle I don't really want to write it. Thanks.

What keeps you coming back here, day after day, with all the fighting that goes on??

Is it addiction? Do you feel you're making a difference? Some other reason?

I'd really like to know.

For a supposedly benign religion with an all-loving God - why do christians think only they can go to Heaven. Surely it is about the goodness of the soul, not whether you believe in a book that was written hundreds of years ago?

When I was a kid (70's-80's) it was Thanksgiving before the stores started to carry Christman stuff. My mom liked to put our tree up ON turkey day and had to use leftovers bought after the holidays each year. I was at the mall tonight and the Christmas stuff is already out and carols were playing. It's 80 degrees outside and Halloween isn't even over. If I had to buy a costume tonight, I'd have to go as Santa Claus.

What's the deal?
