"Jehovah" is the English-language personal name of Almighty God. It is disrespectful and ignorant to refer to any human as though he were Almighty God. It is the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses who knock on the doors of their neighbors in an organized effort to discuss the bible.

A common misconception is that Jehovah's Witnesses go from door-to-door because they feel it is their duty to get a householder to "change his religion". In fact, Jehovah's Witnesses would go from door-to-door even if there were no hope that anyone would change their religion, or even if no one would listen to them!

That is because Jesus Christ specifically assigned the house-to-house ministry to the Christian congregation, with no regard for specific results.

(Luke 10:1,2) After these things the Lord designated seventy others and sent them forth by twos in advance of him into every city and place to which he himself was going to come. 2 Then he began to say to them: “The harvest, indeed, is great, but the workers are few. Therefore beg the Master of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.

Jehovah's Witnesses are trained to direct attention to the bible, and move on when their message is unwanted. Since each congregation in the United States tries to call at every home in its territory at least twice each year, there is strong motivation for them to move on where little interest is shown. Also, the Scriptures help the Witnesses to expect little interest from most:

(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching ...and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

LOL, so true!

I would not change my religion for anything.

And for those Catholics bragging that you don't knock on doors, you are right. But when a couple bring an INNOCENT child to the church and ask to have it baptized, the priests close the doors on the parents face, and say no, just because the parents are not married in the church. hmmmmmmm. Is there any questions why the catholic church is dwindling . . .between pedophile priests, and the church turning families away

Yes, there are some things that u can tell me. unfortunately, none of it would be true. if you proved to me that your religion was correct, i would listen. but so far, i have found a religion in which everything seems correct from the prohecies and scientifical harmony. you should be a little less full of yourself and actually listen. just listen to what they say. if you dont agree, question what they say. if they cant prove it somehow in the bible, than that religion is not right for you. although, most things that jehovah's witnesses say can be backed up because that is our manual for life and jesus told us to preach to people of all the nations and if you dont want to learn the truth, you will not get another chance to prove yourself. think before you make the decision to reject the true god.

I assume that what you're saying is that Christ and the Apostles should have left people alone to believe what they wanted to believe, instead of going door to door, city to city? Hell, the Jews worshiped the same God, so they shouldn't have been bothered. So what if their beliefs had drifted far and away from God's teachings, it was still all basically the same. Christ shouldn't have even approached the ones who became his apostles, as he was encouraging them to turn their backs on the religion of their parents and grandparents.

I cannot speak for the other religions or even mine, but exactly when and where did a Catholic EVER stop you on the street to make you change your religion? I believe you are telling a boldface lie.

i have no idea. I am a catholic and have never pushed religion on anyone. My son can choose what he wants to be if he wants to be anything. When a jehovah comes to the door justtell them nicely that you like to celebrate birthdays and holidays, that you like drinking and going out to dance. Then shut the door if they haven't turned away already. God thank god it's too cold for them to come out now.

We ( Jehovahs Witnesses) are not knocking on your doors trying to make you change your religion...were simply doing what Jesus told us to do...share the good news of the Kingdom. If you dont like it simply ask them to put you on a 'Do not call' list and they wont stop by. Thank you :)

Jesus died for all people so that none should perish. But even his love and personal sacrifice cannot convince some to surrender their life to God and Make God the Lord of their life. All we can do is reflect Jesus love toward them let them see Jesus love thru us. It is very important that we set and hold ourselves to a very high standard, so that we not drive them from GOD instead of showing them the way to God.

i've NEVER known of Catholics walking around and asking people to change their religions. even on this board of nothing but bashing - i and most of the other practicing Catholics are too busy trying to exlain and dispell all the untruths about our denomination.
