Probably so. Even the veneration of the Bible is a form of idolatry. Crucifixes, statues, anything bowed down to, pilrimages and saints are all idolatry. But it needn't be religious. Money is the biggest idol. Fame is one. Venerating the rich and famous and also extreme nationalism or patriotism is idolatry. Saluting the flag and pledging allegience to it is idolatry, which is Jehovah's Witnesses beef against it.

I believe it is. Anything that we might put before God can be idolatry. Money, spouse,kids,house,etc.

of course, if you tell someone to believe in Harry Potter, who the hell would believe it? If you have a stick that may or may not (99.999999999999999% sure may not) shoot sparks, you'll have all the followers you'll ever want.
