It was in context to a husband/wife scenario. I laughed so hard at the brilliance of that answer, that I knew it would become my next reason not to return to Christianity.

Can any priest or father or rabi really save my soul? No! I think not!

Hopefully something witty. Nothing too expensive. Nothing too layered since I don't want to sweat all night.

It's like the war on drugs. You bust one drug house, and another one pops up around the corner to replace it. Same with terrorists. Kill 10 of them, then 50 pop up to replace the 10. You can't declare "victory" against a war on terror. You can't say "I've won the war on terror!" Unless you can somehow perform the immpossible by preventing future terrorists from becoming terrorists. You'd have to be omni-present to stop all terrorism. It will always be around, just like drugs. It's a perpetual "battle". The "war" on terrorism can't be "won", only stablized for a small amount of time.

In the Christian book of Genesis during the creation God said " Let Us make man in Our image"

At the Tower of Babel God said " Let Us go down and confuse their words"

The word We , and Us?
And the word Elohim is plural.

My question is from a Christian perspective this all indicates the Trininty. Can you explain this from a Jewish perspective of who God is talking too? I've only heard quite complicated answers using parts of speach, and I confuse easily

You go into a store, and the security at the door says that you must leave your bags at the front counter?

Would you look at him likes he's crazy and walk out and never come back?
If they don't trust you, why should you trust them with your belongings?
Do you think they deserve to lose your business for their offensive policies?

I just walk out and go somewhere else. That's what surveillance cameras and alarms are for.

I'm taking this Religious Studies class, and most of the people in the class are Christians, and some seem to be quite Fundamentalist. This is fine, and I think it is ok, for them as students, to express their beliefs, as long as that in so doing, they do not disrespect others' beliefs.

Well in my class, one student referred to the Jehovah's Witnesses as "dabbling in a cult" and another student was less than respectful about my own Hindu beliefs, acting as if it were some sort of freaky cult.

I don't know what's with this class, but for some reason, a lot of people in there seem to assume that everyone else in there is a mainstream Protestant Christian.

There could have been a Jehovah's Witness in the classroom offended. And there definitely was a Hindu offended because it was me! I didn't say anything.

But I am asking because I'd like to be a professor of Religious Studies some day.

What can the teacher do to try to keep disrespectful comments from occurring?

1 Then Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem and said,
2
"Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? 2 They do not wash (their) hands when they eat a meal."
3
He said to them in reply, "And why do you break the commandment of God 3 for the sake of your tradition?
4
For God said, 'Honor your father and your mother,' and 'Whoever curses father or mother shall die.'
5
4 But you say, 'Whoever says to father or mother, "Any support you might have had from me is dedicated to God,"
6
need not honor his father.' You have nullified the word of God for the sake of your tradition.
7
Hypocrites, well did Isaiah prophesy about you when he said:
8
'This people honors me with their lips, 5 but their hearts are far from me;
9
in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines human precepts.'"

Matthew 15

7:16 Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.
7:17 If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or [whether] I speak of myself.
7:18 He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.
7:19 Did not Moses give you the law, and [yet] none of you keepeth the law? Why go ye about to kill me?

Throughout the Old Testament, God repeatedly spoke to people.
Assumingly in an audible voice.
Why after Christ's assension, did God become a mute?
If someone tells you God spoke to them literally, wouldn't you think they were insane? Has God spoken to any of you audibly?

I do feel my work here is done and it is time to go forward, what spiritual comfirmations have you received when God ushered you forward and leave everything behind, How did you deal with this, do you miss your family ( I know I will) What comfort have you received from taking a giant leap of faith in your lives? Thank you and God bless you?
