No
Pure Science and Pure Religion never contradict one another
the bible says God created the Universe. it never says how he did it, or what happened in the moments right after. the big bang is a theory and is there fore not Pure science and is not yet Fact. there fore it can not be used in an debate between Science and Religion.

the only things that can be used in the debate are
Pure Scientific Facts
and any
Properly Translated and Properly Interpreted Scripture Written By Prophets through Revelation From God or
Prophecies and Revelations Spoken Though the Spirit of Revelation By a Prophet Of God.

Examples
Chrtistianity (Only Two Denominations have Historical claim of Authority)

Catholic Canon (Bible and Apocrypha)

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints - Canon (JST or KJV Bible, Book of Mormon, Pearl of Great Price, Doctrine and Covenants)

Jewish Canon (Tanakh or Torah)

Muslim Canon (Quaran?)not sure on spelling.

also the bible never said how long the days of God are. the days in the beginning of Genesis could not be 24 hour days since the earth was not in orbit around the sun yet when god started the creation. therefore the assumption that earth is only 6,000 to 10,000 years old is quite erronous to believe. many denominations make claims that can not be backed up with science or by the bible such denominations show they have no authority from god through these actions. such as the medevial churches teaching that the world was flat even though the bible has no scripture even alluding to the erronous idea. and the fact that the earth is clearly round. this is proof that those churches had no Authority from God. since God's true church would not teach anything that was false. God is a God of Truth and so it would stand to reason that his true church would teach nothing that would contradict a Pure Scientific Fact.

Absolutely they contradict! The contradiction could not be more complete.

The Bible says God made the Earth, the Sun and then the stars.

The Big Bang and more generally the facts of cosmic evolution prove the exact opposite.

The Earth and human life could not exist without a minimum of two to three generations of stellar evolution - because all elements more complex than helium were formed by nuclear processes in the core of the first generation of stars.

SO, it is impossible for the Earth or humans to have existed BEFORE the stars.

Not to mention that the Bible indicates that the Earth is 6,000 to 10,000 years old. LMAO!

For the millionth time people. THEORIES do not become FACTS. Theories encompass facts. If you want to make sweeping generalizations about science, at least look up what you're talking about first.

The Big Bang theory is well supported by evidence, such as the cosmic microwave background and the expansion of the universe. If this conflicts with your religion, maybe you should rethink your religion.

It depends on which sect of christianity you ask.

When the Big Bang became the accepted scientific explanation for the origin of the universe, certain branches of christianity, in an attempt to maintain their validity, started to associate the stages of Big Bang with the 7 days story.

Not necessarily.
The Creation Story in the Bible is written in poetic form. We're not required to believe that God made the world in 7 literal 24 hour periods.

The Big Bang could be in fact the way God created the universe. Check out "A Brief History of Time" by Stephen Hawking to see that through all his understandings of quantam physics, he still leaves the idea of God open.

Let's just say, for arguments sake, that the Big Bang "THEORY" is true. Who placed it all together in an organized way after the "BANG"? As for the guy who say's the Bible is stupid, have you ever even open it up and read it? I doudt it very much. Try it, you might find that God is a lot smarter than you are.

When I was in high school, even my science teacher didn't truly believe any of the scientific theories on the origin of the universe.

He never really came right out and said it, religion is not to be used in a public school, rather there had to be a better answer.

Every religion contradicts the other..I think people look for other things to believe in because they cannot handle the truth and will not accept it.

I have no issue with the Big Bang theory...... im certain when God spoke the universe into being.... when he released his awesome power of creation into the void..... there was a massive explosion.

God bless :)

If you believe the Bible is the literal word of a god, then yes, but if you allow for messages of symbolism, and errors, then no. It depends on your perspective of the Bible.
