Honestly, I would not believe that God would or could speak to humans. However, I must tell you, He really did speak to me once. Or shall I say, I heard a non-gender-specific voice once. It was about 10 months ago, and I was alone in my bedroom. I was upset with how my life was going. I didn't speak out to God, or even pray outloud. I was thinking real hard, and felt distraught. I was not intoxicated or mentally unbalanced. The voice sounded like whomever was right next to my ear, and it said, "don't try so hard". I know this sounds like I'm being funny, but it truly happened. Coincidentally, my grandmother passed away the next day, and I feel it may have been her, or through her, that I received this message.

Yep. Several of my friends too. Most people who hear and see don't usually broadcast it for fear of being called all sorts of labels. It's rather nice these days having several very prominent psychics out there making it more acceptable.
Now that more scripture is being uncovered, there is more awareness that many people throughout the ages hear and see. The only thing keeping most people from experiencing it for themselves is fear and poor resources to learn more. It is Gods gift to us to be able to hear Him. If He is truly loving, why fear hearing him speak directly to you. Yes, you do need to be careful. Not all spirit communication is pure, but I trust that you are a sensible person and wouldn't trust just any message. This is when you'll want to have several friends who can help keep you clear. Even JC had more than twelve close friends with whom he could converse and discern the messages coming through.
There are many places you can find on the interenet that are there to guide seekers, some of them are even truly christian -gnostics and spiritualists are the two I can think of right away. An open mind with a healthy bit of skepticism will lead you.

I actually had God speak to me audibly before. I was very upset because I do not have nor do I make very much money and I asked out loud one day, "Lord, am I ever going to be rich by winning money?" The loud "no" that I heard scared me to death because I was the only person in the house. Talk about a wake up call. I guess if I am ever going to be rich, which will not happen because my job sucks, will be through hard work and saving.

God speaks to us through other people and circumstances. In the old Testament the Holy Spirit had not yet descended, they lived by the law and direct contact with God (some of them, not all). After Jesus resurrection, the Holy Spirit was given to us in His place, so it could guide us and teach us, warn us and convict us. That is how God's speaks to us today, through His Holy Spirit. When people tells us something that you may think is a coincidence, it is God telling you something He wants you to audibly ear. It is all through faith and the power of the Holy Spirit, that will dwell in you the moment you accept Jesus as your savior.

No God did not become a mute. And no He no longer speaks to us directly. Before the Word of God was completely delivered in scripture to man God spoke directly to man to reveal His Word. But when scripture was complete it was no longer necessary for Him to speak directly to us. We now have His word in written form.
2 Tim 3 : 16-17 says, "All scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be THOROUGHLY EQUIPPED FOR EVERY GOOD WORK."
So we no longer need God to speak to us directly. We are thoroughly equipped and have everything we need for every good work through His written Word.

Yes but it is not a common event in my life. Two times in particular come to mind. It is a still small voice that is heard in your mind but is so clear and unexpected that you know it is not your own thoughts.
When I have experienced this it has been knowledge that I did not have and it proved to me that it was God because it was from outside of myself - something I could not have known otherwise.
God is not mute but He does according to His own purposes and not ours. There is an example in the Old Testament of God not speaking to the people for a very long period of time because of the sinfulness in that generation.

I've always wondered how anyone can believe God spoke to people. The people that heard God were probably either trying to control people, or they were just crazy like everyone that says "I've talked to God" today.

I think it comes down to the fact that after Christ returned to Heaven we were given the Holy Spirit making it unnecessary for God to speak to us as He did in OT times.

God has never ever spoken to me audibly.
But that cannot prove God does the same to other people.

Hello there, this is Bill Gates. I was spending some time online here anwering questions and came upon yours. I can't say that God has spoken to me, but i can say that he already does talk to us all, his words are in the form of blessings, not verbal words. This is to the best of my knowledge..
