It was in context to a husband/wife scenario. I laughed so hard at the brilliance of that answer, that I knew it would become my next reason not to return to Christianity.
Can any priest or father or rabi really save my soul? No! I think not!

I do believe that God and Jesus are crucial to salvation (so to speak). I just don't believe in organized religions....I find them hypocritical.

I read that question too. Christianity is like any other belief. There are a lot of nuts in the world and, unfortunately, religion really appeals to nuts because the are always looking for reasons to fit in, justify their strange behaviors, air their dark animosities and feel superior. There a some fine Christians just as there are some fine Jews and Sikhs but human nature is against us on the issues of religion.

I don't think anybody- be it priest, rabbi, father, friend, neighbor, etc.- should claim to be able to save anyone's soul. It is obvious that anybody can be INFLUENCED by another person, but only the Holy Spirit can convict and only Jesus can literally save your soul.

No one but Jesus Christ has the authority to forgive sin. Anyone who is looking for their pastor or rabbi or priest to save them is certainly not listening to what the word of God says. I can save no one.... all i can do is witness what Christ has done for me in my life and show the example of his love. The rest is between them and the Lord
