I was just wondering how welcome I would be in your country. I'm British, just finishing University (degree in Archaeology). It is my ambition to come and live and work in the USA as I have loved your nation since I was there as a child at the age of 7.

I would of course be qualified and eager to start work straight away, I would like to enter in to the environmental/ conservation sector and get a steady job that would push me hard. I have friends I could stay with until I had enough money to get a place of my own, they are kind enough to see me through while I settle in.

Am I likely to recieve a warm reception? I would be arriving alone and would throw myself straight in to work (providing job already arranged), using weekend time to hunt for housing etc etc.

PS, any blinding cultural differences I should be aware of? Social do's and do-not's that might be different to the UK?

Thanks a lot!

PS, not sure yet which part of the USA I'd most like to settle in to!

Jesus did not appoint the laity to preach the Word. He appointed the 11 disciples only (Matthew 28:16-20).

By what authority do you preach the Word when your understanding of the Word is imperfect (Matthew 7:18)?

And I must say that the messages I received shook me a bit. My question is, why were there lots of Christians outside handing out leaflets and telling us not to go in there, I thought Christians believed in an afterlife

What would be the quickest, most straightforward way of legally obtaining a hand gun in the USA? I'm only asking as, being British, I find the avaliability of firearms in the US a bit overwhelming! A friend told me you can just walk in to your local Walmart and literally pick one out of the display cases, and take it home with the rest of your shopping?! Is this true?

Are not all of Jesus' instructions on preaching given to the disciples, and the laity is never instructed to preach the Word?

I think I had a vision at the start of the year- at least i thought i did, but after a while u cant really tell if u did and satans just trying to trick u, or if u didnt but ur just crazy, it was a time when i was questioning my faith and asking for a sign, and that was it, i became a christian straight afterwards, it will sound kinda silly, it wasnt like a person, an angel or anything, but I felt so safe, and it was so pure and serene. It didnt say anything, not even subliminally, it was just this shiny glittery light, kinda like a big mirror ball, but not on top of my bed, right infront of me, but it was like transparent, its kinda hard to describe cause i had just woken up, but i dont think ive ever felt so at peace or loved, but now it seems like it never happened. I've always been scared of having a vision or seeing an angel.

What do you think? Am I crazy?

Can you love homosexuals but hate homosexuality?

Are they not both born as God intended, to love as God intended them to love?

Is your understanding of the Word so perfect you would take the place of God: to judge and condemn others because they do not believe as you believe?

Hey. Im a Christian and love God. I have been reading about Buddhism and really like the way Budda taught and do not think he tried to make himself a god. I was wondering is it possible to be both.
I have heard that Buddhism is not a religion but a philosophy. I Also want to know what other Christians would think if I would follow a buddist philosophy as well.

There are many references in the Qu'ran to the killing of other people in the name of Allah. Like the Bible, which also has murder in it, I believe there is a context. Can anyone tell me in what contect they believe these versus in the Qu'ran refer?
I don't want to jump to conclusions, and am hoping to clearly understand the context of the Qu'ran.
Many thanks for sincere answers.

I was having a nightmare and this dark being/cloud was next to my bed draining the life from me. I tried to move, but I couldn't. I also had the impression that any light source would ward it off, but when I got my hand to touch the light switch, it didn't work. This is NOT my first encounter with something that looks like that, but I do not know what it is.

what is this country coming to when a british school with a majority of muslim pupils expects children of other religions to wear muslim head scarfs and other attire or not be aloud to attend the school but when a muslim woman is asked to remove her veil for security checks at post office before sending a parcel the staff are being racist and have to send a written apolige.

what is this country comming to with polititions tip-toeing around muslims so not to offend its all bollocks if muslims want to live in the UK they should obide by are laws and show there face's when required to for security purpose's, after all the bomings that have been happening by religious nutters you'd think the innocent people would be happy to co'operate

It is mentioned in the Gospel of Mark, Ch. No.16, Verse No.17 and 18 - It says that… ‘There will be signs for true believers and among the signs - In my name they shall cast out devils, they shall speak foreign tongues, new tongues, they shall take up serpents - And if they drink deadly poison, they shall not be harmed - And when they place their hand over the sick, they shall be cured.’ This is a scientific test - In scientific terminology, it is known as the ‘confirmatory test’ for a true Christian believer. And in scientific terminology, this is also called as the ‘falsification test’ That means if a false person tries and does this test… takes poison, he will die.Im sure no one could prove tht he is a true christian believer...as this unscientific ...and also these r not god words...how many of u can prove tht it is god words by taking this test...?
