3 Now the glory of the God of Israel went up from above the cherubim, where it had been, and moved to the threshold of the temple. Then the LORD called to the man clothed in linen who had the writing kit at his side
4 and said to him, "Go throughout the city of Jerusalem and put a mark on the foreheads of those who grieve and lament over all the detestable things that are done in it."
5 As I listened, he said to the others, "Follow him through the city and kill, without showing pity or compassion.

The Angel ith the writing kit is to mark or seal all of God's people. This ties in with revelation. Then all those without God's mark are to be destroyed.

Read the whole chapter, it doesn't seem that difficult to understand. The man used the inkhorn, to make a mark on Ezekiel's forehead and when the other six men went throughout the city with their destroying weapons Ezekiel was the only one spared.

The power of the written word is mighty. A pen can be a weapon if what is written is persuasive enough to change mens minds and rouse their spirits. When it comes to governance of human beings, our thoughts and our thinking outweigh violence.

"Beneath the rule of men entirely great, The pen is mightier than the sword." Edward George Earle Lytton Bulwer-Lytton (1803–1873)

Even in the Muslim world there is a category of jihad for the pen (Al-Jihad bil-Qalam) and for the tongue (Al-Jihad bil-Lisan). Jihad means struggle and it is done for the sake of Allah (Jihad fee sybil Allah). Muslims who spend hours upon hours on the internet talking about the wonders of Islam are doing it for the sake of Allah.

Muslims take any criticism of Muhammad or Islam to be a war of words and will react quite violently as has been recently seen in the worldwide reaction to a quotation made by Pope Benedict XVI in his speech on September 12, 2006 at Regensberg, Germany. http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/benedict_xvi/speeches/2006/september/documents/hf_ben-xvi_spe_20060912_university-regensburg_en.html

There was such a furor that the Pope met with Muslim leaders to assuage their outrage.

Yes, the "inkhorn" can definitely be used as a weapon in spiritual warfare as God commands.

The hebrew word so rendered means simply a round vessel or cup for containing ink, which was generally worn by writers in the girdle or side 9:2,3,11) The word " inkhorn" was used by the translaters, because in former times in this country horns were used for containing ink
