Are not all of Jesus' instructions on preaching given to the disciples, and the laity is never instructed to preach the Word?

Matthew 28:16 "Then the eleven disciples wetn away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them."

The books that follow the four Gospels are not the words of Jesus, but the words of Peter and Paul.

There is a difference between being appointed by Jesus, and being self-appointed out of arrogance.

Luke 9 is spoken to the appointed disciples. In Luke 10 Jesus appoints 70 others. Matthew 26 is a prophesy that appoints no one.

"And all who have accepted Him are His disciples and have that command"

There is no verse in the four Gospels that supports this claim.

Jehovah's Witnesses were not appointed by Jesus.

Matthew 24:12-14 - prophecy.
Matthew 28:19-20 - "Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen." Spoken to the disciples (Matthew 28:16). "teach all nations" refers back to Matthew 24:14.
Matthew 5:16-19 - teach by example, this is not a licence to preach.
Mark 13:9-11 - spoken to Peter, James and John (Mark 13:3).
Luke 21:13-15 - spoken to the disciples(Luke 20:45).

As for the rest, they are not the words of Jesus.

LAITY?

A better question might ask what Scripture authorizes a clergy-laity distinction!

Well, it would seem this question must be a joke, for the evidence is abundant that true Christians understand and obey Christ's command to preach.

(Matthew 24:12-14) The love of the greater number will cool off. But he that has endured to the end is the one that will be saved. And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.

(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded

(Matthew 5:16-19) Let YOUR light shine before men, that they may see YOUR fine works and give glory to YOUR Father who is in the heavens. ...As for anyone who does [these commandments] and teaches them, this one will be called 'great' in relation to the kingdom of the heavens

(Mark 13:9-11) For my sake, for a witness to them. Also, in all the nations the good news has to be preached first. But when they are leading YOU along to deliver YOU up, do not be anxious beforehand about what to speak; but whatever is given YOU in that hour, speak this, for YOU are not the ones speaking, but the holy spirit is.

(Luke 21:13-15) It will turn out to YOU for a witness. Therefore settle it in your hearts not to rehearse beforehand how to make your defense, for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your opposers together will not be able to resist or dispute.

Interestingly, the rest of the bible most closely associates being "Christian" with PREACHING about Christ and Christ's teachings. Review all three times the bible uses the term "Christian" and note that the context connects the term with:
"declaring the good news"
'teaching quite a crowd'
'open eyes, turn from dark to light'
"uttering sayings of truth"
"persuade"
"keep on glorifying"

(Acts 11:20-26) [The early disciples of Jesus] began talking to the Greek-speaking people, declaring the good news of the Lord Jesus... and taught quite a crowd, and it was first in Antioch that the disciples were by divine providence called Christians.

(Acts 26:17-28) [Jesus said to Paul] I am sending you, to open their eyes, to turn them from darkness to light and from the authority of Satan to God... Paul said: “I am not going mad, Your Excellency Festus, but I am uttering sayings of truth and of soundness of mind. ...Do you, King Agrippa, believe the Prophets? I know you believe.” But Agrippa said to Paul: “In a short time you would persuade me to become a Christian.”

(1 Peter 4:14-16) If you are being reproached for the name of Christ, you are happy... But if he suffers as a Christian, let him not feel shame, but let him keep on glorifying God in this name

Sadly, so-called "Christians" try to hijack the term "Christian" and hide its Scriptural implications. Yet, the preaching work makes it clear that the relatively small religion of Jehovah's Witnesses are by far the most prominent followers of Christ:

(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded

If Jesus' instructions on preaching were given to the disciples, then all who claim to be Jesus' disciples are to preach the word, yes? Is not every follower of Christ a disciple? There was no such thing as a "laity" in the first century. This phenomenon of clergy and laity developed long after the first century.

As to scripture, consider please, Luke 9:1-6 and Luke 10:1-2 and Matthew 24:14.

Jesus' instruction was to His disciples. And all who have accepted Him are His disciples and have that command. And remember all of Jesus' disciples were laity. They were not part of the ordained priesthood.

It is amazing that people are aware that Jesus instructed his followers to preach, but how many of them are actually doing that? Not many. The only ones who have been to my door have been Jehovah's Witnesses.
