Does having a national pride in one's own country inspire prejudice and intolerance of others (in your opinion)?

I mean on a global scale rather than in the mind of the individual. It seems to me if we all thought of ourselves merely as people, rather than Americans, Brits, Germans etc etc then the world MIGHT become a better place.

a) Sigmund Freud’s, in which he postulated that the mind operates in two levels, the conscious and the unconscious; about his discoveries that impulses and desires (many sexually originated) existed mainly in the unconscious level.
b) Tarcísio Brito’s, in which he postulates that the mind operates between consciousness and emotion. When we elevate the consciousness, we retrain the emotion, and when we elevate the emotion, we retrain the consciousness; about his imaginary graphic, which show that the balance corresponds to ≥ 50 % of consciousness and ≤ 50% of emotion. The unbalance happens the opposite.

I'm 21, about to move in to my own place for the first time. I'm in a long term relationship, in face we are engaged.

I was thinking the other day how if I suddendly died I'd lament the fact I was never able to say goodbye to Mum and Dad...my fiancee was secondary to them. However when I asked some friends, they were the other way around- they thought of boy/girlfriend, wife/husband first, then the parents. These people were all aged 18 to 50, some still living at home, others long ago moved out.

So I was wondering when this change in the 'closeness' of loved ones comes about, if at all in some people. Losing mum and or dad at this stage in my life, I think, would affect me much more than my fiancee- sounds harsh but it's true.

So what's your opinion? Cheers!

Most of my life, I've had crushes on women, 98% of my fantasies are about women with women, I love Xena and read lesbian fan fiction, the whole shebang. Until now I never fully explored what that meant, and have only ever had relationships with men. I'm in the process of ending a 7 year relationship w/a man, and have no desire to be with a man again.

I met a woman at work that is openly lesbian and I can't stop thinking about her. She's in a relationship, and I respect that, but I love talking to her and am more turned on than I've ever been when I'm near her. One day her breasts brushed against me and I was so aroused I couldn't concentrate the rest of the day. We have a lot in common and she spends a whole lot of time coming to my cubicle to just sit, talk & laugh. I can't tell if she likes me or not, and I don't want to ask because she's in a relationship and we work together, and also, this is new territory to me. Am I a lesbian? And what should I do about my feelings for her?

Every question about Christianity and Islam has someone bashing it. Every few minutes someone puts up a question bashing them.
But RARELY do you see anything about other religions or atheism or homosexuality. And if you do, it immediately gets reported.

And I guarantee someone is gonna bash Islam and Christianity on here, just watch.

I am a taurus and taurus by nature are just jealous people. I even get jealous with people that I shouldn't get jealous with. Like if I see a female co-worker talkin with some other guy, who I've never seen, I get a twinge of jealousy which is stupid.

I get jealous when my GF tells me about her guy friends and whats going on with them. I get jealous when I hear about other guys trying to make moves on my GF.

I have been working on changing this because I got jealous once with my GF about having text messages with other guys and she set me straight with stuff so I have been getting better about it and tryin to understand that she has guys friends and I should try to accept that. I understand we both need to have friends of the opposite sex and what not. I just don't have a lot of friends that are girls. I do work in a field that is dominated by women though so I guess it evens out. I work closely with women mainly all day, every day. And we are all friendly towards each other.
