My grandparents and mother were Catholic. I was baptised as a Catholic shortly after birth in a Catholic church. My parents ceased going to church and I ceased going to church. Fast forward....I married a Catholic girl in a Catholic church. My children are baptised in a Catholic Church? I did not go through caticism or confirmation as a child. Am I catholic or not? What do I need to do to become catholic? Do I have to go through RCIA or is that for people who haven't even been baptized? Do I take a different route?

I believe Shame died a long time ago, and without Shame's influence on the world we now have reality tv, the Monica Lewinsky scandal and protesting military funerals. The fact that the Phelps found an even more insidious method of upsetting more and more people... so much so that laws are now being enacted that they can sue against... which is how they make their money... is the final proof that Shame has left the country.

if so do you think many of the problems of society now, ie. rising levels of drug dependency, rising crime levels,influx of violent (usually american drama )series' , rise in mental disorders, are the result of the introduction of open all hours tv? or am i being narrow minded?

In recent months, I have discovered that my [gay] partner of 5 years has a compulsive habit of buying porn, then lying about it.

Last night, I opened up a credit card statement and saw $300 in charges from a live sex website. He didn't lie this time, but I was still furious. We are in a huge financial crunch, and he was selfish enough to go blow that much money on porn when we are hardly making ends meet!

The issue here is not porn... it is lying, and deceit, and wasting our money. I just don't know if I can do this anymore.

The thought of ending things just makes me sick. We made a lifelong commitment to each other. And financially, this would break us. We just bought a house last May.

I look at couples who've been together 40 years. I tell myself this is not a big deal. I feel couples give up too easily. But I don't know how I can still trust or respect him.

He says he is going to get counseling for his lying. Can counseling help? Why does he make such stupid mistakes?

Seriously! Christians freak out about evolution leaving no room for ntelligent design theories, but let's consider this:
Evolution is not the big bang theory, nor does it make any claims into how life began. The study of evolution is only involved with what happens to life that already exists! Creationists should pick this bone with the chemists of the world instead, because their work is much more likely to deal with "how" life begins.
There's no reason why people can't believe that God created life (if they so choose), and then it evolved. So why the controversy?

Religions were invented becuase people got scared of what they did not and could not understand...like the sun...and rain etc etc. Very Basic stuff that people thousands of years ago had no explanation for. Now that Science is here, why is religion still here?
