Yes, I do remember back when we only had one TV channel, CBS, and our local television station started broadcasting about 7:00 a.m. and was off the air at about 10:00 p.m. weeknights and midnights on weekends.
I very much agree that a lot of today's problems have been caused by the availability of 24 hour TV viewing. Why? The networks and cable stations have to fill up the 24 hours some way, why not use stuff that is degrading, shows by example how "wonderful" life is on drugs, violence, etc.
If you are narrow minded, so am I. But then then so are all of the various studies done on this very topic that agree with what you and I believe.

I remember the days before T.V. period. We listened to the radio & sent in requests to the D.J.s to dedicate to our friends. No, I don't think it is the fault of technology that crime levels are rising, mental health issues are higher etc. It is the fault of some parents for not teaching their children to respect others & their property. So many are taught that they are "entitled" to have everything handed to them or done for them without any effort on their part. They're taught they deserve it. It is also the fault of our government & judicial system that has made folks afraid not only to discipline their children but afraid to hug them as well. I am so glad I was able to paddle my kids when they needed it(not often) and to hug the daylights out of them when I felt like it. How awful that parents have to be afraid their kids will be taken away for such actions.

i do remember when TV told you to go to bed, and when there was no such thing as morning TV (I was very young then I hasten to add) However I think that a lot of what you mention has always been around opium dens in the early 1900's for an example, crime rates are they really higher now or is it that there are just more people in the country, and more people reporting the crimes, and perhaps it seems more apparent because of the changes in the ways we view TV and the news

I remember those days very well. People can turn it off if they dont wish to watch it. Personally I work from midnight to 8am so on my days off I do enjoy its availability. I think the problems you mentioned above are due to a rise of stupid people and not TV.

God observed as the gentle day and the darkness he observed as night. And there grow to be night and there grow to be morning, a huge-unfold day. Genesis a million:5 Going from scriptural data it sounds like one 24 hour era. although the scriptures do not qualify in the event that they are consecutive days. There would have been seven 24 hour days of introduction unfold over tens of millions of years we purely do not understand and whats greater, that is not important to the message of the Bible.

Yes I do remember it well, nothing much worth watching on TV in those days and pretty much the same now, though we have Sky its mostly for my hubby as he is a bit of a Sci-fi fan but for me there isn't much worth watching on the telly, I prefer to read you get more out of a book.

most telly's these days have on/off switches, usually to the left of the screen but they could be at the bottom to the right slightly.
