The Torah prohibits human sacrifice. (Exodus 13:15, Deuteronomy 18:9-12). The Torah prohibits mutilation, and thus torture. This applied to animals (Leviticus 22:22) as well as people. (Leviticus 24:19-22). The Torah prohibits self-mutilation and even tattoos (Leviticus 19:28). So God could not accept the sacrifice of the man Jesus (and before you deny his humanity you should know that is a heresy the church rejected 2000 years ago. Besides, get out your concordance and look it up. The Bible says Jesus was a man). God would not heal us by Jesus’ stripes because God prohibits torture. Jesus did not sacrifice himself because self-mutilation is prohibited, so submitting himself for torture and human sacrifice would be sin.

I don't know why I get asked often, usually when I'm in heavily Jewish areas. So, I'm wondering, I had my genealogy done once and I was only able to trace through my great grandparents (all not Jewish). If my great great grandparents may have been, what is that 1/16?? or great great great? 1/32? is that considered Jewish at all?

First, i guess i need to explain what I'm doing, since "someone" brought it up.
I am not some poor ignorant reject that doesn't know how to gather information or research or teach effectively as a certain extremely bitter retired teacher suggested in his answer to my last question.
I am gathering research for my class concerning how society views mythology, and how they view the Bible in relation to mythology.
I take the answers you provide, along with answers from other sources, and share them with my class.
If you do not want your answer discussed or included in our informal "research", then don't answer, but I would appreciate your help. Just answer honestly and be yourself.
My kids enjoyed the last set of responses, especially the funny one.
they were even able to find humor in the bitter old retired teacher's response.
So, what say ye? How does the Bible relate to mythology or how does mythology relate to the Bible?
thanks everyone for your viewpoints.

I know there are similar base values, but someone told me today that the Hare Krishna's are considered a cult sect of hinduism. Is there any truth in this?

Oh, and please just stick to the religions above in your answer. This is purely an academic curiousity and not a call for conversion or preaching. Thanks!

St. Paul was never reported to be one of Jesus students or even saw Jesus in person, rather he was an enemy. what is confusing is that chrisianity today ows him much as he is regarded as the true founder of it.
It is strange that Saul turns suddenly from an enemy to an apostel recieving revelation and guiding other christians. If we believed in his conversion we may expect that he converts to christianity to be a good christian fellow not an apostle. Even if this is a fact, it is really astonishing me because there were no signs that he will turn to be so. Jesus himself has prophesies of his coming. His revealation has no witness except himself, so it could be fake. I think he is fabricating the whole thing. Jesus student were there to get those merits.

it is now called Pauline Christianity
What was it like if St. Paul was not there?

The other day I got up the nerve to wear a flowery spring dress and high heels in a hotel. I was so nervouse but it was awesome! Im not sure if it would be better to do it in a place that is very public or not so public. Its fun to watch people's expressions. Especially from other girls wearing something similar. What do you think?? And say something else besides "Oh, you need serious help" Or something cliche like that. Thanks!!

Today I went to a booth at the fair where a obviously christian guy with a long beard, bushy eyebrows and a bible in his hand was workin. His booth was strewn with little crosses and had the ten commandments posted on the wall below his 12 gauge and a sign on a piece of cardboard that had KOOL-AID=Free written in permanant marker. He kept askin me questions like 'You godda luva god in ya, son.' ....I told him 'sure.' and started walking away. He looked rather angry in the face but his voice came out strangely kind. 'Come back here and you can get ya sum kool-aid for free.' I wanted to keep walking but my friends insisted on grabbin some then running to catch up with me.. L8er in the night they started sayin stuff like 'what are you gonna tell god when you get to heaven.' and 'God loves you, why do you refute?' One of my friends then picked up a stake from a tent and pointed it at me telling me to accept christ. I hit him in the face then ran but now i don't have a ride home...HELP!

I hear the nuttos yelling and screaming about how women are not treated fairly in Islam, but this type of thinking goes right along with that type of oppresion.

Jesus had 12 male apolstles and a female wife, but they turned his wife into a whore. All preiest all the way to the pope are always men...

The pope wants women to stay home and raise babies rather than have the freedom to work if they choose.

The pope opposes condoms so that women are burdened with unwanted children while the men can dissapear.

Is Christianity a religion to empower men?

A few hundred years ago we had what we now know as middle English (I think, if I'm wrong please correct me). You read scripts from back then and you will recognize a few words, but not much. So, in another 500 years or so do you think people will be looking at writings from today and saying "huh"?
