Actual Question: Does, at the moment of fertilization of the egg by a sperm (conception), God provide ONE soul for the new baby?
As the split into multiple embryos doesn't occur until later (about the eighth stage of cell division), if the fertilized egg splits into twins, triplets, etc., then where does the new soul for each baby come from? Does the original One soul split and then grow into a whole soul for EACH baby? or does God provide additional souls after the egg splits into twins , triplets, etc. ?

Since twins are two separate entities, why would they not have separate components of everything?

As far as I'm concerned it is. A baby becomes a twin soon after conception when the cells are multiplying. If there's such a thing as a soul, then each twin would have their own. Not a half. Remember, twins have their own brain, heart, lungs, well, you get the picture. A baby's heart starts beating around the 28th day after conception. Most women aren't even sure they're pregnant at this time. It's not just a clot, or a blob like people envision it to be. Everything is growing by leaps, and bounds. ~~

If you look Genesis account Adam did not become a living soul until God blew the breath of life in him.
You are a soul, so are your twins and every living thing that draws a breath, are called souls in the bible.
Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10 tells us what happens to us, the soul, upon death.

This is a touchy subject.
Please excuse me if you are offended by my answer, I do not intent to offend.
Everything is alive and technically the "baby" is alive but shouldn't be considered an individual until after birth.
Each person has his own soul which is a part of his larger soul (his over soul, if you will) and twins have parts of the same larger over soul and that is why they are twins and so close.
I believe that they do come from the same over soul.
Good question!

Every living being has a soul. It is up to God to decide to split an egg after conception or not. If he chooses to, and there are two living beautiful babies born, then each of them has their own soul, just like they have their own eyes, teeth, bodies, etc. I hope this helps.

The cells that eventually turn into a baby are alive BEFORE conception as well as after. When those cells qualify as a human being is the question--and the Bible says they aren't human until they begin to pump blood (sometime in the second trimester).

I myself don't think of a soul as something "attached" to a human being but as a part of the human that grows with him (or her).

But that is JMHO.

Just like everyone else's answer.

No, only one soul to a zygote. When the split occurs one gets the soul the other becomes the "Evil Twin".

Actually each individual cell has its own soul. The sperm and egg have half a soul each, because you need 46 chromosomes for a soul. However, unlike cells, which reproduce by splitting, souls actually reproduce by budding.

(See, anyone can make up science. It's fun!!)

When does a baby get a soul. I was taught "at birth". Others taught earlier I suspect. Also suspect if there's a need for another soul for twins, whatever that it will be provided.

That's what happens when you believe in impossible things, like "souls". A baby is a baby, if it becomes twins, then twins are twins, and that's it. Just two beautiful baby twins. No half-souls, no creepy stuff, just perfect, wonderful and unique human beings.

A baby is alive whether it is in the mother or outside the mother. The fact that some mothers would want a doctor to cut that life out of her and stamp it out is beyond me........

Twins would have different souls because they are different people. I think God is smart and wise enough to know who is going to be born and how. He inevitably gives them certain gifts and blessings and allows them to respond in faith.
