The Torah prohibits human sacrifice. (Exodus 13:15, Deuteronomy 18:9-12). The Torah prohibits mutilation, and thus torture. This applied to animals (Leviticus 22:22) as well as people. (Leviticus 24:19-22). The Torah prohibits self-mutilation and even tattoos (Leviticus 19:28). So God could not accept the sacrifice of the man Jesus (and before you deny his humanity you should know that is a heresy the church rejected 2000 years ago. Besides, get out your concordance and look it up. The Bible says Jesus was a man). God would not heal us by Jesus’ stripes because God prohibits torture. Jesus did not sacrifice himself because self-mutilation is prohibited, so submitting himself for torture and human sacrifice would be sin.

Some of you need to re-read the question. It doesn't matter if Jesus sacrifices himself. God does not accept human sacrifice as a sin offering. It doesn't matter tht he was fully God when he was also fully human. And you can't in one breath claim he's the Messiah in fulfillment of the OT, but the OT prohibitions on human sacrifice don't count. Either every link in the atoning sacrifice theory is true or it's all false.

Amy P needs to read her own Bible before telling me to read it. Acts 2:22
"Men of Israel, listen to these words: Jesus the Nazarene, a MAN attested to you by God with miracles and wonders and signs which God performed through Him in your midst, just as you yourselves know--
Romans 5:15
But the free gift is not like the transgression. For if by the transgression of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many.
1 Timothy 2:5
For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the MAN Christ Jesus,

Mark,
I commend you. Very few, know God well enough, or the scriptures well enough, to discover this most obvious fact. In fact, God says, that sacrificing your children, never even entered His mind. How can a God of mercy, demand the death of an innocent, to pay for crimes He never committed? How is it, that we are held accountable for every act and thought, yet by saying that we accept Jesus as our lord, we can go on sinning, and be guiltless? All of this nonsense started at the Council of Nicea, in 325 A. D. Jesus, came to this world, to bring us a message, both simple and elegant: "The Kingdom of God is within you". When we come to God as humble children, and invite Him into our lives as King and Father, He sends His Spirit into us, and bonds with us. We become new creatures, part mortal, part Immortal. The old values of materialism and fear, fall away. Love and Wisdom, become the foundation of all our choices. Jesus said, that without this spiritual rebirth, we will never see the Kingdom of God. He never said, that without His blood sacrifice, you will never see the Kingdom of God.

What we have here, is a failure to communicate He was not sacrifice, he was killed. However the death (by state judgement) did provide the means to an end. That is the shedding of His blood for all men. God used the Romans, to complete His plans Hebrews 9: 18 Therefore not even the first covenant was dedicated without blood. 19 For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and goats, with water, scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people, 20 saying, “This is the blood of the covenant which God has commanded you.”[b] 21 Then likewise he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle and all the vessels of the ministry. 22 And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission. Greatness of Christ’s Sacrifice 23 Therefore it was necessary that the copies of the things in the heavens should be purified with these, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. 24 For Christ has not entered the holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us; 25 not that He should offer Himself often, as the high priest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood of another— 26 He then would have had to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now, once at the end of the ages, He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. 27 And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, 28 so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. A subtle difference, but no priest opened his veins and burned him on the altar. The Romans did it. Keeping the law, and yet giving man grace....which seems wasted on you In the end....it was a self sacrifice

The devil arranged Christ's death at the hands of the Jews and the Romans.
The totally innocent Jesus allowed it to be done to him in order to destroy Satan's dominion over mankind, as no one has the right to take the life of an innocent man, let alone mistreat the only begotten Son of God.
"Laying down one's life for his friends" is not the type of human sacrifice that was prohibited by God or scripture.
God the Father was pleased with Jesus' great work of redemption, because it was a heroic, totally selfless act that resulted in the destruction of the forces of evil and the salvation of mankind.
Once completed, Satan was officially powerless and Jesus was the new, triumphant and sinless head of all mankind.
Your premises are totally without merit.

Jesus was actually God. God came to earth in human form to show us how to treat one another and how to live. He gave his life for us. There is no greater love than to lay down your life for someone. Through this act, we are all forgiven. Don't be fooled by man's perspectives on religion. Read the word of God, the Holy Bible, and then ask for wisdom. God's words will be burned into your heart, and you will have no doubt about what is truth.

jehovah sent the christ to earth to live and to preach about the kingdom of god that is to be installed.it was satan who directed events as best he could to try and make jesus sin, torture was one tactic, satan tempted jesus in the wilderness and after failing he withdrew til another convenient time.jesus installed a new law,one which replaced all others it was 'you must love god with your whole heart your whole mind and your whole soul, and you must love your brother as yourself'.apart from this there is no other law.therefore the torah you speak of was no longer applicable in any case.jehovah makes the law not men so he can arrange matters any way he see's fit for the betterment of mankind.and he is the only one with the wisdom and foresite to do so.

I believe you have overlooked something quite simple--God didn't put Jesus to death, the corrupted PEOPLE did. And furthermore, you're only quoting the OLD Testament. Alot of teachings were changed after the New Testament was written. And also, Jesus didn't submit himself for torture and mutilation, he submitted to the governing officials, which is part of God's law.

He chose to sacrifice himself rather than all of us be sacrificed for our sin. He took the bullet that was meant for all sinners. He wasn't sacrificed by someone else, he chose to do it freely.

ironically Noah was expected to 'save the world by being lifted up above the world and was thought to be a picture of the Messiah to come by some ancient Rabbis
ironically, God commmanded Abraham to sacrifice his son, his only (dearest) son
ironically, God had a plan to save Joseph's brothers and it involved the lil sinners selling their brother for cash, Joe would virtually die as it were and yet be raised form the dead and seated at the right hand of Pharoah in order to save the sinners who sent him to Egypt
ironic in Isaiah 53 God repeats each point at least 7 times, that the suffering servant would be rejected , suffer for our sins, die and overscome death
ironic that Esther would put herself under the curse of the law, in order to save her people and he raised as it were
ironic that Samson would kill more Phillistines with his death than he did with his life
ironic yes
because all of these point to Jesus sacrificial death on the cross and his resurrection
Jesus was a man, yes, but He was fully God and fully man
this is in fullfillment of Daniel 3 and Daniel 7
In Daniel 3 God rules over the eternal kingdom
in Daniel 7 you wonder what Daniel thought as he saw the Son of Man coming with the clouds and recienving the same eternal kingdom and being worshiped by people of every nation and tribe and toung
WOW!!!! What a God!!!!
no one doubts it was primitive and obcene to nail Jesus to the cross and yet it was the worse thing man did and yet the most wonderful thing God did in another way.. a fitting thing for a God who commands men in the Tenach to LOVE MERCY to be the picture of unbelievable overflowing mercy Himself and to have songs written and to be sung in praise to endless ages
