When it comes to human affairs and relations, slavery is one of the back bones of the spine of Christianity and its principles:

"All who are under the yoke of slavery should consider their masters worthy of full respect, so that God's name and our teaching may not be slandered. (From the NIV Bible, 1 Timothy 6:1)"

"Let all who are under the yoke of slavery regard their masters as worthy of all honor, so that the name of God and the teaching may not be defamed. (From the RSV Bible, 1 Timothy 6:1)"

"A student is not greater than the teacher. A slave is not greater than the master. (From the NIV Bible, Matthew 10:24)"

We clearly see that the Bible is not a book for freeing slaves. Slavery was practiced very badly during the times of Judaism and Christianity. It is part of the Bible's "teaching" to practice and promote slavery!

I own a business and for almost a year we have been donating what we can to this one agency( won't name names). well I notified them last week that due to slow business this month we won't be able to help and told them as soon as it picks back up we will. I get an email this morning from them that was rude and the author of this email ( btw from one of the directors ) " I would like to thank you for abandoning those in need so you won't miss a paycheck" and it then proceeds downhill from there. I figured this had to be a joke and called well it wasn't got the same hostility. I want to be mad but I am figuring I'm just dealing with people that really want to help. I'm trying not to be one of those that say "F*** em let em do everything on there own" Yet this happens and I see so many waiting for handouts and doing nothing to pull themselves up. I know I'm just seeing the bad and their are alot of good honest people trying . But just how mad should i be about this event?

Did you know that the idea of Once Saved Always Saved (OSAS: that once you've accepted Christ you are accepted no matter what) was not part of the faith until the 16th century? It was derived from Calvinists who also believed in predestination. Predestination is the idea of a predetermined faith. Thus elimination the whole purpose of free-will and repentance.

Don't believe you can do whatever you like simply because you've been "saved by Jesus". Because those who love him, keep his commandments. It is easy to profess with your tongue love of God, while lying in your heart. It is easy to see your neighbor struggling without clothes or food to eat and say, "God bless! Take Care!". Even the devils can do that. Faith without works is dead. So as a man/woman who professes faith in Jesus Christ yet continues to live in sin is not saved by any means.

Ok guys, I need your help again.
I just started college (YAY!!!) as a freshman, and I've been living in the dorms for 3 nights with my new roomate. She's really nice, I can tell we won't be best friends, but we get along alright.
However, as you can tell by the question... there's an issue.
She snores, and she knows she snores, but I don't think she realises how much, or how loud it is.
So I was up until 4 AM last night, and 5 the night before because I couldn't get to sleep (because of the racket across from me) and once again she's keeping me awake (it's 1:12 here and I'M EXHAUSTED!!!!).
So, I really like her, but I don't know what to do...
any advice?

It seems many who call themselves Christians today are some of the same people who embrace a lifestyle of banging random girls while single, and "commiting" themselves to one partner, only when in a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship. Marriage is not about sex anymore, it seems to have been reduced to a meaningless instituion.
The culture decided that sex is natural and therefore good, so it seems that in the name of this, it has been trivialised. How did that happen, and why do so many would be Christians feel that they know better than the wisdom of the ages much less what has been taught as the will of their God for 2 millinia.
And beside that, what happened to a lifetime commitment to One other person. To share sex with one other person in life, till death do you part? When did this cease to be important?

If you think your open minded answer this question- Can God make a rock so big not even God could lift it? Then look at how you answered to how Jesus might have answered. Jesus would not have criticized spelling or punctuation, Jesus would not have insulted my intelligence or my faith. Jesus would not have thought less of me or that He was wasting his time with me. Jesus preach excetance of those who are different right? He did not judge or jump to conclusion did He? Yet the ones that proclaim the closness of God to lead in their faith do exactly that, use the guise of Gods faith to convey their message, is that Christian? If they are supposed to be like Jesus then why would they behave in such a manner and then justify it so contradictory from the message it originated from?

How do you think we are going to be looked at in the next 25 to 75 years? Eventually, we would be accepted and considered the same as every other group, wouldn't we?? Or will it get worse? I'm 20, and I know it's easier to be gay now then it was two decades ago, but I would like to hear some other opinions.
