To know Islam, someone has to know what it actually preaches and has to identify false/wrong explanations and beliefs against Islam prevalent in his/her society.

I am Jewish, and I have studied Islam-and keep studying it. I study it because I am very interested in Mid-east history, politics, foods, and customs. I also have friends from there, both Jewish and Muslims.

I do find it to be a good religion, when lived as it should be lived, and most Muslims do. Too many people get their ideas from the news media who thrive on sensationalism.

I know enough to know there is no Alah. Muhammad was a false prophet and islam is a hate orintated religion set to proslyte the world thru violence. Don't hand me that peace stuff. People who love don't blow themselves up just to hurt someone else or crash planes into buildings to kill. I will never conform to this false doctrine even if it would mean my death. JESUS is LORD.

What you see is not as real as God. What you see should prove to you there is a God. If you try and tell me we just became without a creator then you need to go rethink some things. Ask any athiest how the whole universe came about to exist and I mean every galaxy, planet and star, also the ones still being created. Ask how the earth has one set speed it is to turn and one set speed to rotate around the sun. Also the sun is just at the right distance for life to be sustained here on earth which includes billions of diverse lifeforms (That according to athiests just popped out of nowhere or crawled out of the Ocean). Is it all just coincedence? Also ask them to get an empty mason jar and set it in their house and go back to the jar 20 or 30 years later or more if needed and see whats in it..........you know what would be in it? Still nothing. You have to have a Creator and it scares athiests.
Also for the big bang theory supporters........where did the material that went bang come from and the energy to make it go BANG? I'll tell you, God created it and he may have made a "BIG BANG" out of it to put it where he wanted it I won't dispute that because the Universe is still expanding. All in all the athiests have too many questians to answer themselves that the Bible already explains. I'd rather believe there is a God and die and if there isn't I will then lose nothing but if there is a God and Creator and I've argued to people he isn't then I lose alot. Think it over friend. Are you really sure about denying God? The evidence is against you. The Bible, the only Holy written word of God explains all things past, present and future. There is no excuse for not having the knowledge, it's there.

good question. but i don't understand why when someone ask a question about islam, there will be some who will answer something about christianity. or vice versa. the question asked to know islam, one has to know what it actually preaches and to be able to know the false and wrong explanations. all i can say is, it is a largely misunderstood religion, because of some morons who took islam into thier own hands, and twisted it to the way they want it to be, and call is islam. they make the world misunderstand the religion. like any other religions, islam will preach about living a good life, not harming people, not killing people.

What theists...be you muslim or christian...don't seem to get, is that atheists have no interest or belief in god or gods of any kind. We are not just searching for the "correct" version

I can read fairy tales anytime I want to...whether they are in the Bible, the Koran, or the Brothers Grimm......but frankly, the Grimm's and Mother Goose are more entertaining.

Besides, merciful Allah has already decided I'm not worth the effort.

From The Cow:
2:6 As for the Disbelievers, Whether thou warn them or thou warn them not it is all one for them; they believe not.
Don't bother to warn the disbelievers. Allah has blinded them. Theirs will be an awful doom.
2:7 Allah hath sealed their hearing and their hearts, and on their eyes there is a covering. Theirs will be an awful doom.

Yes. I did and was able to figure out not to follow the prophet's sayings (which is like broken telephone for me), but the Koran exclusively & read much of it. Failing to focus entirely on the Koran & consulting other sources instead for seemingly more "clarified" information is a mistake too many people do in the world.

Based on my observations of Muslims, friends who are Muslim, friends who have been to the Middle East, some research, and the media, Islam would be last religion I would consider if I were to pick one. Then again, I would not consider adopting any religion, as they are all flawed and man-made.

I studied Islam as a part of a middle-eastern cultural course in college. We read and discussed the Qu'ran. I was also raised in a Christian home - but I have and always will be an atheist.

Yeah, Ive been trying to learn about it. I know a lot of the bad stuff written about it in the west is actually just propaganda, and bullshit. I dont think it's the religion for me (being an atheist and all) but respect to the people who DO follow it. It's very interesting as well.

YES, for the last 10 years, their teaching, doctrine, their prophets, origin of Islam, weakness and strength of Islam, the people of Islam, contradictions and many more.

I was convince that it is a mixture of many belief from other religion and pagan origin. (Do not get hurt when I say this) 50% of their teaching are copied from the original christian (believers).

I have not studied Islam, but read about Mohammed and read about 70 virgins.

But I continue to hear that Islam is a great religion if you just are open and study it.

Religion should not be this hard. The yoke is easy. The burden is light. If children cannot grasp simple truths, then it must not be true.
