How do you think we are going to be looked at in the next 25 to 75 years? Eventually, we would be accepted and considered the same as every other group, wouldn't we?? Or will it get worse? I'm 20, and I know it's easier to be gay now then it was two decades ago, but I would like to hear some other opinions.

Those who think being gay is Sodom & Gomorrah will be going to hell alot quicker than anyone else. I'm not gay or lesbian, but some people are just too stupid to put things in perspective. You have human beings that are attracted to the same sex. Ok, they have a life, careers, families, pay taxes. Idiots are worried about these kinds of people? There pedophiles, serial killers, gang-bangers, drive-by shooters, and rapists out there and you're worried about Gay & Lesbian people and what they do behind closed doors? I have a relative who's lesbian and she's one of the most spectacular tax-paying people on this earth. One more thing, when Bin Laden took out those towers, he wasn't aiming for Gays & Lesbians, Blacks, Whites, Hispanics, Democrats or Republicans - he aimed, and got - AMERICANS

There will never be a Federal anti gay mar rage act unless the Constitution is amended , This isn't likely to happen as it would take a majority vote in the house as well as the senate to amend the Constitution . If by some strange coincidence it were to happen It would be challenged and taken before the Supreme court , The Constitution guarantees the right to liberty , freedom and the pursuit of happiness to all the citizens of the United States so in order to amend the Constitution you have to show that you are adding to thees three rights not taking away from these rights . To pass a anti gay marriage at without offering another solution like a civil union would violate two of our basic freedoms , freedom and the pursuit of happiness , therefore the Supreme court would have to reverse the ban and make it legal . As for the future I feel that things will get better and eventually we will have many of the rights we desire added to us . Things have gotten better in the past 20 years thanks to all those gay men and women that have come before us and the sacrifices that have made to the cause . But as the older generation dies out the younger generation must step up and assume the fight so the future generations will have a better future .

as long as more gay youth come out and are willing to stand up to societal pressure then we will never be pushed under the rug again. Having a very conservative (religious) party in party in power is making it hard for all of us. So it's more important than ever to stand up for what we want- equal rights- not special rights. For all us (specially the older gay community) who haven't come out, the less the straight public is aware of how many there really are. If we all would come out on coming out day - all around the world, think how powerful that would be. They can't turn their backs on all of us. We need to let the public know that we are everywhere, they can't ignore us, they can't make us go back in the closets. Join groups, be active, stand up and be proud. We must make them back down.

it may pass, but eventually, America will catch up with the civilized world and same sex couples will marry here. just like interracial marriages, popularity will be realized to not be the deciding factor, and instead fairness will hold sway. Might be a while, but it will happen.
parenting abilities also will not be decided by what goes on in the bedroom (seriously, gay couples are not, to my knowledge, giving sex demonstrations to their kids any more than straight couples) kids of divorcing couples will no longer go to the parent that happens to be straight.
All you need is love. Love is all you need.

you know what its amazing to me how people sin and try to make their sins smaller than yours.. You all don't understand how this would affect our lives...we cant speak up or make decisions on a sick partner.we have no say so on what is best in a life or death situation for the person we love ....or how we could spend our whole lives with someone and have them pass away and there families come and kick us out of a HOME we have shared for 20 or 30 years...

there are so many other things going on in the world....that could be considered threatening to society...
Like...
drugs being sold to children at school.

hunger..

incest and molestation

You all need to look at your life and the sins u commit everyday before u start quoting the bible...... Let gays/lesbians US your sisters, daughters, brothers, aunts, uncles, parents, grandparents have the quality of life that HUMAN BEINGS deserve ....

NO I DON'T THINK THEY WILL .....!!!!

i do believe that we will all be able to get married. i have spoken to several people about this and they feel that the only way to be truely fully equal would be a civil war. is war the answer? i dont fully believe so but it is for a good cause. it's not the same as going to war with iraq and stuff which is just the governments protocal. we all deserve to be treated equal and maybe it's time that we get somebody like martin luther king and begin doing rallies for real freedom in this nation.

I can only hope that one day Americans will see the wrongs they have committed on the GLBT community and simply allow us the fully equal access we deserve as citizens.
I do not support "civil unions" at all for one simple reason.

Seperate but Equal is NOT Equal!

It didn't work for inter-racial marriages, it didn't work for segragating schools, it's not going to work for gay marriages.

Marriage itself is what society has traditionally held as the "Gold Standard" of making relationships fully accepted, fully responcible, and fully protected.
Straights have bastardized this completely on their own with extra-marrital infidelity, short-term marriages/quicky divorces, child birth out of wedlock and parents abusing their children.

Gays have traditionally not been allowed to partake in this "Gold Standard" so even attempting to compair the longevity of gay/lesbian relationships to straight marriages is like comparing apples to oranges.
Because gays have not been allowed to participate in this legal recognition, we as a community have not had that goal to strive for. Until we are allowed full marriage equality, we won't be able to fully asses or study gay couples...even then it will be generations before accurate samples could ever be taken as it will take that long for society to settle, the gay community to get used to having the availability and for society to stop using fear to keep the gay community from accurately representing itself in such studies.

(Sorry for the extreme run on sentance there)

To the guy speaking approximately newborn and animal marriages: toddlers and Animals haven't any political voice as they are no longer seen legally powerfuble to make a determination. So your argument is erroneous and flawed.

No...people are finally realizing what a mess the right wing republicans have made of this economy and country and they're being voted out.
The key is getting more young people and poor and to vote. They have the most to lose if these Rep get re-elected.

I like to think that it'll continue to get better. I'm also hoping very, very, very much that the country is realizing that the conservative right has taken too much control, and we'll start moving back towards the middle politically. That'd help a lot.
