I do financial stuff and am thinking about changing fields to something with, ha, less numbers. So, I'm curious how you feel about your work.

The question's here because I'm gay and felt like asking it here. Is there a rule that we can only talk about gay politics or sex? If so, I think that's weird, but I'll move along if that's the consensus.

I think it's refreshing to talk about something else in this forum - so keep on asking! In answer to your question I currently work in telecommunications, but am hoping to move into travel any time soon. Believe it or not I originally trained as a teacher, so I'm not afraid to make career changes! Good luck, my friend.

No, no, don't feel your categorizing your question at all. You're part of our community, WELCOME!

To answer your question: I'm an artist. I used to do medical billing as an insurance collections specialist. I hated it.
But now I love what I do. It gives me eminence freedom, I set my own hours, I push myself on projects I want to do, I take on special requests or clients as I feel. I'm able to be there for my son. Which right now I've been his chief financial officer in his scholarship search as he prepares for college next year.
I actually have the time to do things for him that he otherwise wouldn't have time to do himself.
He's very busy with his music: his two bands and Chamber orchestra, his attempting to record his own demo of acoustic guitar pieces, working at his part-time job, school work...which is much more time consuming than he thought it would be this year...etc.

The focus of my work is predominantly Venetian style paper art masks. They're labor intensive and take up to three weeks to complete just one. But I absolutely love the whole process of it. I never thought when I started on this that it would be so labor intensive, but each one I create gives me so much joy.

Working with children with severe special needs is the most rewarding job I could ever have. The children have so much to teach.
