We were on holiday in Devon and we drove into this site-seeing place. We parked the car and went for a walk. On the way we passed this lovely looking little pub, with a thatched roof and hanging baskets outside, and a menu chalked up on a blackboard. We promised ourselves a drink and a meal when we came back down the hill. Two hours later we came down (there was only one way up and down the hill, the other side was a sheer drop into the sea) the pub was derelict - no hanging baskets, windows boarded up and the roof half missing! We ran to the car and couldn't leave quick enough! We asked about it in a shop about three miles away, and the woman told us that she'd heard our story before - but had never seen the pub 'open' , as it had been gutted by fire 8 years previously!!!
