We were on holiday in Devon and we drove into this site-seeing place. We parked the car and went for a walk. On the way we passed this lovely looking little pub, with a thatched roof and hanging baskets outside, and a menu chalked up on a blackboard. We promised ourselves a drink and a meal when we came back down the hill. Two hours later we came down (there was only one way up and down the hill, the other side was a sheer drop into the sea) the pub was derelict - no hanging baskets, windows boarded up and the roof half missing! We ran to the car and couldn't leave quick enough! We asked about it in a shop about three miles away, and the woman told us that she'd heard our story before - but had never seen the pub 'open' , as it had been gutted by fire 8 years previously!!!

I was about 12 or 13 and I can't account for a lost 3mins. Or an hour 3mins. cant decide which. I'd got up for school that morning, breakfast was on the table, mum had gone to work. I looked out the window where I could see the bus stop which would take only about 3 mins. to get to to catch the bus to school. I remember looking at my watch thinking great I've got time to have my breakfast without rushing. Went into the hall for a second and that's all I remember. When I 'came to' I looked at my watch and it was exactly the time I should leave the house but I hadnt had breakfast, but then saw I had when I went back into the kitchen but I dont remember having had it, looked at my watch again abit puzzled and the time was the time I usually get up, an hour earlier, to wash and dress and have breakfast. I was totally flummoxed . Checked watch again and even though the minute hand was going round the other two stayed the same. By then I decided this is too weird and left the house to catch the bus, thinking I'd be waiting for ages now but it came in the 3 minutes I'd always given myself the time to catch it.

I still wonder about what really happend to this day.

You say you were in Devon...that explains everything, That whole part of the world is an open hole (lack of better term). It's a place where you can see through the sheets of other dimensions. What you probably saw was that pub in another time still in business. It's probably a good thing that you didn't decide to go in at that time. Your whole life would seem just a little bit off, because you would have disappeared into that dimension along with the pub.

Your story is a classic example of a fairly common tale of the disappearing house or restaurant. In the typical version, you would have stopped in the pub, had the most delicious meal of your lives and been warmly greeted and royally entertained. In some versions, when you asked for the bill, none would have been presented--the meal would have been "on the house". Then, the next day, when you went back to find the pub, perhaps with a friend to show off the wonderful food and friendly people, the entire building would have been gone.

Your version differs in some ways from the classic plot. For one thing, obviously you didn't go in. For another, the building didn't vanish. This appears to have been more a ghost story than a tale of eerie hospitality. Perhaps it's just as well you didn't go in for a meal at this place. Who knows what else might have been different from the usual story?

Still, a glimpse into the world as it really is, rather than the sheltered little world we have built for ourselves and huddle within in hopes of keeping the dark at bay--such a glimpse is to be treasured and if meditated deeply upon can lead to wisdom.

Or at least to whatever wisdom mankind is capable of, yes?

But you asked about me, no? Yes, weird things have happened to me, more than I could tell here. Sometimes I think I attract them somehow. The real world is vast and mysterious, full of wonder and terror, but is not really anything to be afraid of. The wonder is the awe of existence and the terror comes from the fears we carry within us. If you enter with perfect love and perfect trust, feel free to explore and fear no apparitions of the darkness--they cannot hurt you, unless you surrender to them.

Just my opinion. I hope it helps.

I had a vision of the future once with my best friend Neva.We were Juniors in high school in 1973.I had been telling people a bit of their future for fun.One day during free period Neva asked me to do hers. You see I never wanted to tell her I really could do it but of course she talked me into it.When I grabbed her hand it was an immediate vision, like watching a video.I saw her trying to cross the street of 5 lanes with a middle area for turning. She looked older and she was holding the hands of two very young boys.I seen a truck coming fast as the three of them started across.I yelled at her to stop and the vision ended.I let go of her hand and told her nothing but that someday she will need to pay attention while crossing the street. We stayed friends after we graduated. Then 2 years went by and another then out of the blue Neva called me.She was in the hospital with bruised ribs and a fracture to her arm.She told me that she was hit while crossing the street but was saved when she suddenly stopped and was only slightly hit by the truck.I asked her about the boys and she told me she had let go of their hands when she heard someone shout stop.I know you all say this is just a story but it really happened and Neva to my knowledge is still very much alive and so are her two sons.

I have a book about Rowley Regis, where most of my family come from. The book was written about 1950, by a very respected writer and historian. He tells of a lane that appears on the top of the hill and people who have seen it walk along it and find a medieval farmhouse busy with the normal activities from the time the house was built. This has been reported by a number of residents over the years.

The weird thing is, he admits to having found himself in this lane on one occasion, not many historians would make such an admission in their own book, which makes me believe it.

I was woken one night while on a night duty at a medical centre, I felt 'very, very' cold as if a wind was blowing right through me and tried to call out for the other nurse but couldn't move a muscle. In the morning I awoke fully refreshed but could find no reason for this event, and could get no explanations from the other staff. This was a sleeping duty, which is common abroad. Years later I saw something on TV about lucid dreaming could this explain what happen to me? Also heard this called a waking dream, scared me at the time but can find myself explaining it away with physical reasoning 'sometimes'

that's cool!!!!!!! I never went to my Grandpas funeral (my dads dad). I was only 12 and I was scared. I stayed home. Everyone else went though. About 20 years later I had a dream. The kind you have to tell people about. I dreamnt my Grandpa was talking to me and he told me to tell my Dad that he got his letter.
The following morning I stopped over to my parents house where I have coffee before work. I was telling my Dad about this dream. When I got to the letter part his face turned white and he was visibly upset. He told me that before they closed the coffin he slipped a letter he had written into my Grandpa's pocket. NOONE saw him do this. Not even my Mother. He then stated to me,"Do you know what day this is?" I replied, "No." He said, "This is the day your granpa died." I couldn't believe it! I had to see for myself. I drove to the cemetary and as sure as the chair I'm sitting on... IT WAS!!!
Freaked me out a little to say the least seeing that I didn't even go to the funeral or calling hours or nothing...

Cool! I wonder what would have happened to you if you had gone into the pub before you went up the hill?

I walked into an old house and was immediately assaulted by graphic detailed visions of what happened thee to the original owner and his servants over 100 years ago. I hightailed it out of there! It's never happened to me before or since.
