I'd like to buy a home in Texas that isn't too far from Dallas Proper. Where is the best place to live, with great schools, and still lower cost of housing??

I just wanted to see if what I see to be scientology is accurate. I don't really get all of the negative publicity against scientology. As far as I can tell...it's more like a motivational way of life that has been made into a "religion." That it does not govern beliefs in God and does not associate itself with God. It's sort of a way of focusing your life and goals. What's the hype? (Yes I realize that Ron L. Hubbard was borderline crazy thinking he was the anti-christ etc... and having sexual relations with Alistar Crowley), but it doesn't seem to play into what he has discovered through producing Scientology.

Have we decided as a culture that monogamy is an ideal because of moral/religious influences, or do you believe it is part of our human hardwiring to seek and be mated to only one partner in a lifetime?

People who think they're better than someone else because of the sheer fact that they exist typically hate themselves, in my experience. People are so rude and disrespectful!

Are any other people tired of the slant some of the questions are taking. Some people are repeatedly posting questions of offensive nature. Should Yahoo provide a monitor for new questions if they are not going to promptly remove the offending ones? Yahoo doesn't want kids posting offensive stuff but they constantly allow kids to post what is supposedly not allowed. Would anyone else be willing to pay a yearly fee just to keep some of the junk out? Just curious. It is frustrating having to wade through filth and ignorance just to participate.

Wasn't he supposedly born in the spring?

Yes, I know, the entire theft of the pagan winter solstice celebration was to make conversion easy but that's not my point here.

we all know that Judas is called the betrayer. but i don't think he was. there is evidence all over Matt that suggest he wasn't. that him and Jesus knew what was going on it was Jesus that said to Judas do what u have to do. and Matt doesn't suggest that Judas was the out cast of the men like the church would have u think. Matt says he was very close to Jesus to me peter was the betrayer.
he was the one that denounced Jesus three times. so which is worse the man that helped Jesus do what he had to do or the one that said he never even knew him ?

If an ignorant racist organization adopted our current American flag, would you want it removed from state capitals or banished from society, just because of that organization?

That was done to the Confederate flag. The confederate flag was never intended to be a symbol of racism and its creators never intended it to be.

Society, as a whole, takes what they hear and see at face value. It is important to look behind what is in front.

Besides the majority of blacks just need something to gripe about. Lazy ducks as a whole with a very few exceptions, if any. LOL...

If you have ever adopted this attitude, could you please consider the possibility that an asker is becoming more knowledgable each day, while the person who asks nothing gains nothing.

The exception of course is if you make some effort to learn from the other answerers and askers in some other way.

Could you please provide your comments on this? If you require an example, please refer to some of the answers to my last question.

I know I am more making a statement here, but if you could give your views on this, that would be great.

Cheers
J

"Provocative - to put it mildly"
Los Angeles Times

"The God Who Wasn't There is going to feel like a knife to the heart for those who subscribe to Christianity without thought."
DVD Talk

"Irreverently lays out the case that Jesus Christ never existed"
Newsweek

In this provocative, critically acclaimed documentary, you will discover:

The early founders of Christianity seem wholly unaware of the idea of a human Jesus

The Jesus of the Gospels bears a striking resemblance to other ancient heroes and the figureheads of pagan savior cults

Contemporary Christians are largely ignorant of the origins of their religion

Fundamentalism is as strong today as it ever has been, with an alarming 44% of Americans believing Jesus will return to earth in their lifetimes

And God simply isn't there.

Whaddya think?

This question is devised as a fun question, dividing you up in to two groups,

for the Atheists and Agnostic group, in your lifetime, has their been a religious leader you have respected and found inspiration in, like a Dr. Martin Luther King or a Pope John Paul II or a Mother Theresa, someone we normally associate with "religion".

For those who believe in God, has their been a scientist (with the exception of those who have written books about how science and religion get along) has their been a scientist or an non-religious person, a secular person in your life time who you have respected and found inspiration from.

I was born in 1977 and while I want to say Dr. King I can't cause its not in my lifetime, but the echoes of what he said about children in school I still apply to my outlook on life.

So, in my lifetime, there is a nun, can't think of her name, but shes on MSNBC's Meet the Press at Easter and she's so intelligent about the role of religion in American Democracy
