I might feel a little hurt if I had raised them to be atheist, because it might feel like they're throwing out all I'd taught them, but I would realize that my children are intelligent (after all, I'm their mother, they learned from the best), and can make the choice on their own - whatever they decide to do I'll support them, as long as they're still good people.

As an atheist, if you are against your children for following a religion and doing something that you personally don't believe in, then you are hypocritical. I say that because the atheist chose to be an atheist based on what he researched and chose to be fact and I think that he/she would want their children to do the same thing-explore different ideas and make decisions for themselves

why would it bother you. If you believe there is no god then no matter what religion they pick it will have no negative repercussions and if it makes them feel better and be happier then it is good for them. I mean if there is no after life and no judgment then the important thing is happiness while you are alive. So if the religion makes them happy i would support them.
I think even if I was an atheist i would not tell my kids that and have them join a religion i felt taught good morals.

How would you feel if your children were allowed to read the Bible for example. Any decent parent would not want their children to be subjected to such violent confusion.
Many parents don’t allow their kids to watch various TV programmes or movie films, or read certain books, because they contain too much hatred, violence, killing, and murders which may cause negative thoughts and behaviour in their children.
However these same parents allow their kids to read the Bible, yet the Bible contains some of the worst hatred, violence, killing, and murders ever witnessed in Humanity. Certainly the Bible also contains some nice parts as do many of these other books, TV and films.
This is just hypocrisy when it comes to the Bible. In a child’s mind, hatred, violence, killing, and murders are all troublesome, yet the Bible is by far the worst offending material ever written by man.

i'd be very in touch if my toddler joined a faith that demanded isolation, consistent and considerable money donations, rejection of generic, professional wellness centers etc. something previous that does no longer difficulty me nor interest me. i does no longer decide for to communicate their faith or practices in great length, yet i'd admire their selection and enable them to do what they see greater wholesome with their time, money and social existence. in the event that they have been embracing practices that i in my opinion discover confusing to deal with, like seeing my daughters placed as much as the will of their husband as an inferior in a patriarchal faith or witnessing my own flesh and blood discriminate against gays and lesbians, i'd could placed far between us, with a view to maintain issues polite and amicable. i'd proceed to love them see you later as we are residing.

That depends on the religion, obviously. If it's a cult, or if they turn out to be fundamentalists, I'd be devastated. Otherwise I see no problem, they must find their way.

It would depend on the religion. But probably a little sad, unless it was buddhism. Or pagan/wiccan.

I'll expose my kids to all religions. I don't mind them chosing one as long as they make the choice logically from all of the available facts.
