My wife and I were communicating via Yahoo Messenger and the TV was on inj my South Carolina home. In China, they allowed the news to flow just as fast as it did in America. It has actually changed China television with more openness..

I had just woken up having worked a night shift at the local hospital. I remember putting on the TV and flicking the channel to sky news as I usually did and then thinking I have the wrong channel, I thought it was a clip from a movie that was going to be released soon, then the second plane hit the tower, people on the streets started to scream and run. Then all I could say was OMG. OMG. I wasn't even aware of the fact that I was crying. Those images will stay with me for the rest of my LIFE!!!

I was sleeping at home, Queens, New York city. It was around 8:30 am in the morning and luckily my day off. I heard someone's knocking on my door but didn't really care due to morning slumber. Just after few seconds heard the loud knock again. I got so mad and opened the door and as I was ready to charge the person, it was my neighbour, he looked quite nervous and just before I could ask him, he said," just turn on the TV." First, I didn't know what he was talking about but didn't look alright either.I was bit scared. The moment I turned on the TV the second flight just rammed into the trade centre.I couldn't believe my eyes and still didn't know what was happening.I actually, took it as a flight accident caused by reflections from those NY's highrise shiny buildings. Then I saw people running around in chaotic manner and the news reporter was saying some kind of terrorist attack. I was panick stricken and called my sister at her job if she was alright.Luckily she was working in the uptown.I thought we all might have to run for our lives and started asking everyone around but people said nothing to worry about. The entire NY city was panicked that day.I can never forget that unlucky Sept 11,2001 in my life.

i was working as a 9-1-1 dispatcher in a small town in illinois. the 3rd shift dispatcher called and said "turn on the news, the trade center was hit by a plane". as we watched & talked about the "accident", the second plane hit the other tower. We decided right off it was no accident. as remote as this little town was, things got really hectic. The county sheriff ordered all fire departments in the county to stand by their stations. All police departments went on full alert. All ambulances were ordered to stand by their stations, as at the time, the local trauma center was gearing up to take in air-lifted victims flown in from N.Y.
Well, needless to say, there were not enough survivors to send anywhere. Later, on the way home, I noticed the gas stations had tripled their prices. I was low on gas, but I decided I would ride a f---ing bike before i'd pay that. Things never were the same after that day.

I was on my way to work and I was listening to the radio (one of those stations that all they do is joke around) and I heard them say that a plane just hit one of the towers and I was like no way, when I got to work I turned on the tv in the breakroom and it was going across the news like crazy and then another plane hit the other tower I was like holy ****. I felt so bad for everyone that was in those buildings and for there families. That affected the whole country everyone mourned for the giant loss of people and of the buildings that have been there for years and years. But this is the USA and we bounced back and we're kickin some ***. That was a great question!!!!

I was at work. At that time, I worked across the street from the Sears Tower in Chicago and there was a complete and utter pandomonium, especially after the second plane hit the WTC. Everyone in Chicago thought Sears Tower was going to be a target. I left work, jumped in my car and peeled out of the parking lot.
As I drove home, I was worried about my aunt who worked in the WTC. Fortunately, (sort of) for her she had broken her toe earlier that morning and was in the hospital. She never made it in to work that day. Just about everyone from her company that was in the office that day was killed.
I felt sick that day, I still do. When I found out my aunt was alive and well I was ecstatic, but how could I be happy when so many lost their lives and their loved ones?

I was at work starting to train a group of new and excited trainees in a multinational that i worked for. I heard someone shouted, 'a plane crashed wtc!'. I almost fell because my best friend works there. I rang her up immediately and her cell was off. I couldn't concerntrate and everyone else were too shocked. We watched it all on TV and i called the day off for my trainees. I remembered I was worried sick, i was flabbergasted and cried in the bathroom when I couldn't reached her.
She was away in Chicago for last minute assignment, thankfully!

I was working as the manager at an animal shelter. I remember a woman came in and adopted a little scruffy terrier because she needed something to hold onto. Her children worked in the towers and she couldn't reach them and she couldn't get a flight home. She was shaking and the dog was licking her hand. I remember an animal control officer who kept looking up at the sky, and the sky was so, so, empty.

i was on my way to work listening to the radio and i thought it was a joke... u know the morning shows. so i realized it was real and went to wal-mart which was next door to my job and went to the electronics dept to watch tv. but i guess wal-mart only has wal-mart tv and nothing was on. so i drove all the way home, i was supposed to open the store, i turned on the tv. i stood there and cried for a little bit then decided i was going to be super late for work if i didn't leave. i grabbed a portable radio and rushed to work. i set up the radio and we listened to it all day. during the afternoon we noticed cars lining up at the gas pumps and it never stopped. people were getting mad about it all, they even blocked every entrance to our pizza shop so we stopped taking orders seeing as though no one could leave the place or get to it. eventually the gas station ran out of gas. i remember going home that night and watching it all night. i remember tom brokaw breaking down. i remember feeling sad for a long long time, like months afterwards.
