Wasn't he supposedly born in the spring?
Yes, I know, the entire theft of the pagan winter solstice celebration was to make conversion easy but that's not my point here.

To the first replier: I want to know why it's celebrated in winter and not spring. Why was it changed? I don't celebrate my birthday 6 months after. I'm sure you don't either.

Spiffy 1 one: you are beyond idiot. When summer is in the northern hemisphere, it is winter in the southern. The middle east is inthe northern, therefore same time of year for the US and the middle east.
Fuсking retard.

If you study the scriptures with understanding, Yahshua was actually conceived on the winter solstice (the darkest day of the year God placed him in the womb as a Savior to mankind, how appropriate!) and he was born on September 29th.
I celebrate both of these days.

I'm not sure how it orignally started, but Jesus was born during lambing season which would have been in the spring, which would put it right up against Easter. Can you imagine celebrating Christmas one week, and Easter the next? Also, it was the theft of pagan holidays. Although I think maybe summer solstice would have been a little more accurate, but who knows what the early catholics were really thinking, I mean most of the people back then couldn't even read. I doubt if they questioned it.

Scholars have determined that he was born in September due to the shepherds in the fields.
The date was changed to winter because various Pagan belief systems had a similar God who was born of a virgin on December 25 (Mithra was popular at the time). The Christian Church in the Middle Ages wanted converts badly and they couldn't do it on their own. One of the main ways that worked was to change the Christian holidays to coincide with the Pagans' and then tell them that they're really Christian holidays instead.
So the idea stuck and Christians have been celebrating it on that date ever since because they don't like change or being told that they're wrong. Nowhere in the Bible does it say that it was winter though, yet so many thousands of people blindly believe it is truth.

Actually Jesus never asked anyone to celebrate his birthday and it was in the fall. The Shepard's were in the fields. So it wasn't winter. Everyone knows that these pagans celebrated or worshiped nature. Sun god and when the sun went away they had a party. Drank there self's stupid and has orgies and gave each other gifts and in a few months summer.
See it worked. They were afraid not to do it. for fear summer wouldn't come. when Christianity was being taught they just incorporated it into Christianity because the pagans were afraid not to do it. Can't blame the pagans for everything.
Santa clause is a lie. Reindeer that fly? come one
No one but God knows if you are good or bad.
So Christmas is seeped in pagan tradition. In fact most Christian holidays are. An Easter Bunnie. that lays colored eggs??

Jesus was born in the Autumn of the year and died in the Spring. And yes, it was proposed in the month of December to coincide with the winter solstice by the 4th century pope to try and bring in the pagans, but all he succeeded in doing was to further contaminate Christianity. Jesus is not God, he is an angelic son, the one whom God created entirely by Himself. After that He used His first born of all creation angelic son to bring everything else into existence. God transferred the life of this first born son into the womb of Mary a virgin, Jesus was born as a flesh and blood perfect human being. When he died, he was truely dead, he did not exist anymore, hence the great loss suffered by God, for the first time in eons, God was without His son, and the loss suffered by Jesus, he truely died. God, though, resurrected Jesus back to spirit life so he once again could take his place by his Father's side until God would give him the throne of the Messianic Kingdom. Jesus was truely human when he died, and now he is reigning as King in heaven until the thousand years are ended, Jesus will undo all the damage done by Satan and the disobedience by Adam and Eve.

I agree. Jesus was born in the spring or summer. One person just makes up a holiday and the rest blindly follow!!! Jesus didn't even celebrate his birthday. People didn't start celebrating it until 1000 AD.

They used to celebrate it in the spring but the pagan holiday during the winter was drawing a lot away from Christ so they made it during the same time it doesn't matter when we celebrate it

If you go by the Bible (I know... I know)... he would most likely have been born in Sept or Oct.
And it was because the Pagans had awesome parties going on during the winter... the Christians were feeling left out, cause, actually, they aren't supposed to be doing those things according to the Bible.
And they didn't steal it... how do you steal a holiday? lol

Ok let me lay it out for you idiots who cannot figure it out for yourself.
Easter coincides with the Pagan festival for Spring. Spring represents fertility. That is why eggs and rabbits are the symbols for Easter - because they both represent fertility.
When christians were converting pagans they realized that it would be a much easier transition if the holidays/festivals were kept on the same dates.
That is why there is no set date for easter. It is based on the lunar calandar.
Christmas coincides with the Pagan winter festival. Same deal - it was easier to convert people by keeping their festivals on or around the same date.
