We've been trying. They sneak across the border, most times underground, to get into America without citizenship.

There is a difference between immigrants here legally and those who sneak in illegally, without going through the necessary procedures.
If someone is doing something which is illegal in this country they should be charged, imprisoned or sent back to their own country.
It is ridiculous that the illegal immigrants are hurting the immigrants who are hear legally.
Worse are people who only have a mailbox on this side of the border and collect benefits from the USA because they don't earn income here. How could they, they don't live in this country? They should be snet to Jail. And why doesn't the US govt find and stop them? This puts a strain on our Government and takes money from those who really need it.

In the UK it could be said we have a similar problem with illegal immigrants and similarly a government that does little. The truth is they have become a very important element in what we call the black (illegal) economy which really matters to those at the lower end of our society, normally through no fault of their own. Just as crime itself has become an industry off of which many in society feed (the police, social services, insurance companies etc.) so to has the immigrant population. They are not all employed by legal Mexicans many are feeding on their woe.

1. They're not so bad. Most of them are just here to work and earn a living.
2. It's very expensive to completely guard our borders. How much do you really want to spend to stop each illegal immigrant? $5K? $10K Wouldn't you rather the government buy you a new car, then spend the money on stopping people who want to come here and mow your lawn?
3. wouldn't it be better if we expanded the guest worker program, so that we could then tax their wages and make them part of the solution, rather than the problem?
4. There's like 12 million illegal immigrants in this country. It would take a tremendous and nasty effort to deport this many people.

if drug dealers are so bad, why doesn't the government stop them?
oh right, only so many hours in a day and you actually have to build a case to convict. we are trying to stop them! not all people are, obviously, but the majority of people are trying to stop them. it's just been a low priority what with wars and all. it's in the forefront now just because of publicity and a raging border problem.
I'll also add that the illegal problem goes beyond Mexico. They do track the borders, but it's a long border and not the only way in. They watch for tunnels, but they don't have x-ray vision. And if it was soooo easy to stop illegal immigrants, we wouldn't have Russian slaves entering through here either. Making it harder to enter without documentation will help clear out a seedy underbelly to the States that no one talks about, human trafficking.

Republicans want cheap labor, Democrats believe that poor people will be more likely to vote for them and their socialist programs.
USA is in a death spiral now because the number of hispanic voters (more and more of them illegal) are being catered to by both parties and if you say anything like
"Uh, you know, every country which had two languages eventually ended in civil war"
well, that's hate speach and you will be the first one up against the wall, come the revolution. And won't get invited to the best parties either. Or get elected to office.

Everyone in this country is an immigrant in one way or another, I don't think people realize that their ancestors probably weren't from this country. If people want to come here and try to make a better life for themselves (and family perhaps), is that really wrong? because the only people I really consider not immigrants are Native Americans. I wouldn't hate you since I know a good chunk of people in that position (some Hispanic & some not). To me, it really isn't a big deal, I don't know why the government wants to kick out every "immigrant" out of the country. Maybe it's because they are supposidly "stealing jobs". Really they just want someone to blame as usual.

always remember when asking political questions....the bottom line is money....how will it impact us financially.
illegal immigrants can't vote, so they can't help with the decisions of this country and how they can be treated, they can only apply for welfare if their children were born here and most of them don't even apply becauset they're afraid of they themselves getting deported....people born here and then have children born here are the ones applying for welfare, they can't apply for any medical services only emergencies and even then, once again, they don't rush to the hospital for fear of deportation, they can't apply for any other government services........
.........but they CAN buy products.
so why stop a people who can't be offered anything moneywise..but can spit out money to contribute to the economy?
the government isn't stupid.
if were so worried about the financial impacts on our country, maybe we should look to our own people...do you know that the highest percentage of people on welfare are white?
AND when did this whole illegal immigrant thing become a mexican thing? there are other races here illegally too! besides, once they "stop" the mexicans, who are we going to pick on next? see below for my opinion on that.....

Because they mostly get the jobs that the americans don't especially want (housekeeping, gardening, pool assistance... ). They are not such a big trouble for the Government.
They are a "necessary evil"
And if they become unwanted, it's easy to throw them out of the country, because they are illegal residents.
