we all know that Judas is called the betrayer. but i don't think he was. there is evidence all over Matt that suggest he wasn't. that him and Jesus knew what was going on it was Jesus that said to Judas do what u have to do. and Matt doesn't suggest that Judas was the out cast of the men like the church would have u think. Matt says he was very close to Jesus to me peter was the betrayer.
he was the one that denounced Jesus three times. so which is worse the man that helped Jesus do what he had to do or the one that said he never even knew him ?

Peter.
Jesus told Judas to do what he had to do in a chain of events leading up to the crucifixion. If Judas had not played the role that he did, the crucifixion would never have occurred, which was one of the reasons for him being on the earth (if you believe that to be true) and Christianity would not be in existance today.
Nowhere did Jesus give Peter permission to betray him, yet he did. Not just once either. At that point he was scared for his own life simply for knowing Jesus and his human nature took over and did what anyone in that position would do if they wanted to stay alive.
Yes I think they both had remorse for what they did. But elsewhere in the Gospels, Peter is always looking down on others who Jesus chooses to associate with. It's really hard for me to find sympathy for someone like that.

Judas was a "liar and a thief". Peter cried on the taught that he had denied Jesus. Judas sold Jesus and then he throw away the money and hanged himself. Looks like someone has been severly deceived by Satan. Although Judas fulfilled some prophecies that doesn't mean at all he was the good guy, especially if the Bible clearly tells us that he wasn't. As you can read in ur Bible, after the ressurection Jesus came again to Peter and renewed his faith in the love and trust he had for him.

I would think Peter. I believe that Judas played a role that he didn't actually play, does that make sense? I think Judas did what Jesus wanted him to do, but when the chips were down Peter denied Jesus. Who knows for sure though... Either way, forgiveness is supposed to be key somewhere here in Christianity.

Let's see....
Peter denied Jesus 3 times out of weakness for fear of man...
Judas betrayed Jesus willfully, over a period of time for profit...
Jesus knew he had to die for our sins, and he knew how it would happen. He also knew at some point it was Judas that would betray him. All these things had to happen to fulfill Bible prophecy, which cannot fail. Show me scriptures that suggest Judas didn't betray Jesus. Don't just claim there are some.
Jesus told Judas to get done what he was going to do in order to get him out of the house they were celebrating the Jewish Passover in so that he wouldn't be there to share in the "new covenant" that he was about to introduce. Judas as the betrayer was to have no share in it. Peter was there and was included in that covenant.
Jesus also appeared to Peter after his resurrection. He asked Peter three times (one for each denial) "Peter, do you love me?" All three times Peter answered yes, and Jesus replied "Feed my little sheep." This account is found in John 21:15-17. This commission to Peter to care for the early congregation, and the fact that his future writings are Bible canon is proof of Peter's forgiveness.
And to clarify for Melissah c, Peter denied Jesus while they were both still alive. Jesus was right there listening to Peter as he denied him.

Judas did his part-after all, JC couldn't have been crucified and the whole Xian religion wouldn't have the resurrection story. JC is recorded as having known about Peter; I think he was used for a morality tale but Judas was definitely necessary. Poor guy has had a terrible reputation! I'm not even aware of anyone naming their child 'Judas'.
Oh, yeah. I forgot. Someone said he didn't repent? He killed himself, he felt so bad. That's not 'repenting'?

Judas wasn't a betrayer (assuming that the "Bible" is true, which it probably isn't)! Crucifixion was a part of God's plan! Therefore, Judas did something that he HAD to do - it was part of the plan all along. Peter, on the other hand (real name Simon) was a zealot, which meant that he was trying to free Israel from Roman rule by use of tactics such as guerrilla warfare - he used an assumed name because he was a wanted man. So apart from the fact that he was basically a felon, he also betrayed Jesus (which was just plain dumb, in my opinion) THRICE. So clearly, it seems to me that Peter (the first Pope) was the "bigger betrayer."
(I'm an atheist by the way, so it's all one big fairy tale to me)

If Judas was simply helping Jesus why would he have accepted the money in the first place. Usually when you help someone you do it for free, and the help doesn't lead to your death. However I honestly can't tell you which is worse.
