My boyfriend and I are going away for a romantic weekend. I want to give him a gift at the start of the weekend to build his excitement. It doesn't have to be much (also, prefer nothing too sexual). Any ideas?

Seems like I heard that Jesus is supposed to be an example, living a sin-free life in temptation. But I don't see how it could have been the same? Did Jesus feel homosexual urges, or even improper urges toward children? Did he ever get lonely, or feel like killing himself? Crack wasn't invented yet.

Does it ever strike you that, for an omniscient/omnipotent/omnibenevolent being, that the biblegod can be awfully unimaginative, sloppy, and downright immature? Consider:

1.) We know he can perform "surgical strikes" (witness the slaughter of the firstborn in Egypt) and kill exactly whom he wants on a grand scale; do you honestly believe that EVERYONE in Noah's time -- children, infants, unborn fetuses -- were iredeemably evil and MUST be put to death?

2.) We know it's possible for a being to exist with both free will and the inability to sin, since God himself is one; so why cause so much unnecessary suffering by making Adam and Eve the way he did (you parents know what I'm talking about, wouldn't you do ANYTHING to keep your kids from harm?)

3.) Jesus causes a fig tree to wither and die for not having fruit; but what did he expect -- figs weren't even in season! We know he can feed thousands with a wave of his hands....killing the tree was just being petty!

Shall I go on?

In the gloom and darkness of the night, when there is a sudden flash of light, a person will recognize objects; in the same way, the one with a flash of insight sees according to reality--"This is how sorrow works; this is how it arises; this is how it can come to an end; this is the path leading to that end."

im just wondering, cos according to islam and judaism, there is only one God, and he has no partners. and christians consider Jesus(PBUH) as the son of God and so that means a partner has been associated with God. so how is this 'monotheistic'? :)

I just recently moved from the "ghetto" to a better area of town. However, when I shop at the local Wal-Mart, it is like I'm back in the ghetto again. Where do these people come from and why are they always in Wal-Mart?

I asked an ethics question yesterday and got a lot of answers about intention being what decides the morality of an action. A religious fanatic who blows up a cafe is "intending" to follow what they believe is God's will. So that act is moral? In Hinduism they have the concept of negative devotion. There are stories of saints who hated one God or another so much that they never stopped thinking of that deity, if only to act against them. But that single minded "devotion" got the saint "enlightened". The deity was of such pure love that the intention behind the devotion didn't matter, only the devotion itself. What's the morality here?
