A Catholic, a Christian (they are not the same thing), a Moslem, a Buddhist, a Jew & an atheist all live long healthy lives.

The Catholic never misses mass, when he sins he fervently recites his hail Marys. Once in his life he'll try to travel to Rome to see the Holy of Holies, the Pope. He'll pray the Rosary. In times of great distress he'll call upon Mary mother of God to intervene on his behalf.

The Christian helps those he can. He prays to God, he does not curse, or at least tries not to, he doesn't cheat on his taxes, doesn't tell lies, doesn't lust after the flesh or material things. His life is full of good deeds.

The serious Moslem will pray five times a day facing Mecca. He'll travel to Mecca at least once in his life. He strictly observes Ramadhan, Zakaat and other religious practices.

Same goes for the Jew - different practices though

The Buddhist will meditate, seek inner peace, nirvana.

The atheist is honest, never killed anyone...just doesn't believe in God.

I'm talking everything... everyone would be automatically raised as Christian. All schools would teach about the Bible and creation theory. The ten commandments could be displayed everywhere, anywhere, at any time. All public offices and buildings would be run according to Christian ideals. The president would be Christian and run the country strictly according to Christian ideals. All laws would be written so as to work with what the Bible teaches. The goal would be to have as many people as possible in the country believe in or grow up believing in God and Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. Note, nothing would be forced on those who are not Christians or do not want to be Christians, however, they will have to create their own avenues of worship/non-worship without the help of government, public office, etc. Also, those you maintain a non-belief or different belief will not be punished unless a law is broken. Would you want to create a society like this, and if yes/no and why?

If you believe in free will, then you have to deny that god does not know all and see all.

If you are given two choices, take the apple or the cookie and god knows absolutely (because he knows everything that is going to happen) that you are going to take the cookie, then you have no free will.

Simply put, if he knows your choice = no free will.
If he doesn't know, then you have free will = he isn't all knowing.

God could guess that you are going to take the cookie or even make an educated guess that you will take the cookie, but you would only have free will if god could be WRONG.

This doesn't disprove the existence of god, but if you believe that people have free will then it means that god does NOT know everything.

If the reverse is true and we have no free will, then we are not responsible for any of our actions and we are just doing what god wants us to do, including sinning. That would mean that we are all just pawns in his game.

My hubby & I are early 30s. Our parents were middle middle class and upper middle class... but it seems like no matter how hard we work, we can't provide the same type of lifestyle. We're both educated, have decent jobs. I think that health care costs for Baby boomers (sorry mom & dad!), excessive student loans, the need for 2 people to work/child care costs, high home prices, high fuel prices, high car prices, etc are destroying this country's "good ol' days". Anyone else going through this?

I am not a believer of any organised religion.

Do christians or other believers believe that without god, there would be no morals, no right and wrong?

Further to that, if God appeared and said raping is good, killing is ok if done on Sundays, would these two things then become morally right?

Also, what do Christians think of hermaphrodites; individuals born with body parts of both genders? Sometimes there is a toss up for the doctors and families as to which gender a person should live as.

didn't get there? I've heard many theories, but none of them seem to really do it for me, for example, the "you just wont have any memories of them" theory, and so on. I don't buy that one, because I don't think your memory gets erased just because you got to Heaven. Maybe you're operating on a different on a higher
level or something,,, anyway, curious as to what you think?
