Christians inherently reject anything based on reason. Creationists are just extreme examples - complete and utter fruitcakes. However, they do serve as a warning to others as to what can happen if you permanently switch your brain to the 'off' position.

We're not afraid of it. I know evolution exists in the form of people, plants, and animals growing and developing. The way a flower grows and blossoms...tadpoles turn into frogs...the way a baby grows and develops...the way appearances change so much. However, evolution of species stay within their own realm. Humans did not evolve from apes or anything like that. Even Darwin himself said that it was a bunch of bull and that he wished he'd never said anything about it. He was just tossing out an idea, and it people took it too far. God is our Creator, and He makes everything to evolve the way it should.
Besides, according to evolution, when one species evolves into another the former species no longer exists because they have all evolved. But then, if that's the case, and apes or monkeys or whatever evolved into humans, then why are they still here? What, did they get the special option of selective evolution? Sounds bogus to me.
I just don't see how anyone can look around and see all the spectacular things, and how so many things grow and change and produce and reproduce, and yet say that there is no God, no Creator. It doesn't make sense. Everything had to come from somewhere. It didn't just one day appear out of the blue. So where's the logic? People can believe in things magically appearing and changing, but they can't believe in a greater power that created us all. Whatever.

it is important to remember that many christians are not afraid of evolution - john paul ii said evolution was undoubtedly real. as you can see on your board, some fundamentalists lack an understanding of the nature of science - science changs to keep up with the new facts we learn. we used to say the earth was the center of the universe and the sun and all things moved around us. you can see this idea in genesis, where god is said to have stopped the sun from moving across the sky so a jewish warrior would have more time to be victorious. we learned that, in fact, it is the earth that moves around the sun. The Science, therefore, changed. The bible, being myth, does not change.

Darwins theory of natural selection (evolution) is the most strongly supported scientific theory there is. A theory is an explanation for a large number of facts. A theory is not a hypothesis, which is a guess about something. The theory of natural selection is not changing in its essential explanation of natural events, however. New facts have challenged the theorists to a deeper understanding. (hello, fundies!) Anyone who has ever had a flu shot has participated in evolution. You know the flu shot changes every year, right? This is because the virus which causes the flu evolves in response to the killer vaccines! Evolution is simply the process by which a mutation might be preferred by a species because it enhances survival. Overtime, the mutations change the species to something so different it must be called a different species. Herein, the process from chemical elements dashed into our oceans by crashing comets, to floating single-celled organisms, to the huge diversity of life apparent today. Hence, 'the origin of the species.'

Fundamentalist Christians, i.e. those Christians who believe the Old Testament is literally true, are totally unnerved by evolution because it is scientific proof that they believe in myths. Their religion is the religion of children, not of people striving to be their best in accordance with the nature of the Universe.

It is curious to me that not all fundamentalist Christians take the New Testament literally. Oh sure, they believe the mythological elements, like ressurection, to be true, but many clearly do not believe Jesus meant it when he said, "However you treat the least of these, so I shall say you treated me." Or that Jesus meant it when he said it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get into heaven. I actually attended a christian lecture where the leader told us Jesus was actually talking about a hole it the walls of city, thru which it would be difficult, but not impossible, for a camel to enter.

Christians who fear evolution fear life. They are children caught in an unresolvable existential dillema. Or, as Shakespeare might have described them, "Methinks they doth protest too much.

You believe in evolution, but did you know all there "findings" have been fake. I have a cool book that shows how evolution is not true. I was curious about what evolution really was. Why does it have to be Christians anyway? I am not afraid of evolution, because I don't think it's true. The person who started this thread is being naive, just because he believes in Evolution doesn't mean everyone thinks its true, and is pretending its a lie. If you believe in evolution, fine. I don't care, it's your choice. Can't Muslims be "afraid" of evolution, can't anyone of other religions be "afraid" of evolution. Stop picking on Christians!

Some of us are afraid because evolution is being taught to our children without our permission. If God chose evolution as a way to create the world, who cares? But every day there are evidences that the Bible is giving the right answers (human footprints next to dinosaur footprints in the fossil record, for instance). This is good science, too.

"lots of you seem to think of that macro evolution capacity one species giving beginning to a distinctive one, while relatively it is basically the compounded outcomes of micro evolution." possibly you probably did no longer understand which you're making a difference the place none exists. Macro evolution IS the capacity of one species giving beginning to a distinctive one in the direction of the compounded outcomes of micro evolution. the priority is that macro evolution is an incorrect extrapolation of micro evolution. All Christians settle for that there are small transformations interior a species (micro evolution, if it may rather be referred to as that). yet Christians additionally understand that based on the obtainable medical evidence regarding selective breeding (alongside with those carried out via Darwin on pigeons), that the graph has a tendency to point after various generations, i.e. that the gradient progressively strategies 0. If the graph is extrapolated in accordance to the fad, the predicted outcomes isn't macro evolution. yet right this is the place macro evolution blatantly CHEAT : the extrapolation is performed based on the fad of of in straightforward terms THE EARLY aspects OF THE GRAPH. And evolutionists nevertheless have the audacity to call THAT technology !!!

Christians love to say that the theory of evolution is only a theory. Of course it is a theory with a lot of evidence to support it. There is no such thing as creationism in science. It is just a religious belief. If someone tries to tell you that there is a scientific theory of creationism they are lying.

It is not evolution.. it is the teaching of evolution as FACT.. instead of theory...

you believe in evolution... you see it all around you...

ok.. now... look at the Model-T Ford... it was primitive and rode rough... now.. look at the Ford cars in the 1960's.. better ride.. still a few problems... now look at modern Ford cars... run pretty good.. ride smoothly... so they evolved from the old cars to the modern cars... right? WRONG!! they were each created individually.... no matter how many similarities they have.. how many common components.. how many design features in common... they were still each created individually.

now... for evolution... is it not true that one species cannot mate with another species and produce a sexually viable offspring? Ok.. now... let's say that you got ONE mutation to produce a new species in ... oh.. say only 500 years (you say it takes millions of years so this is even faster).. where is the other member of it's own species to mate with in order to produce the rest of them... unless it lives for more than 500 years.. there is no other of it's species.. and it dies out.

When did men first start studying evolution? 1930's? 1800's? Just how many people do you think go through college and had to study fruit flies each year? 10,000? and how many generations of fruit flies did they have to monitor and observe and study in order to produce their research papers? 10? 50?
... ok.. now... 50 generations... times 10,000 is 500,000 generations for EACH year... over 50 years.. 2.5 million generations.. over 100 years... 5 million generations.. and in that time... NOT ONE has produced a new species!!!

Yet evolutionists teach evolution as fact... and they say it is right in front of me.. when it is NOT....

I know and acknowledge that my religion and creationism are based upon faith... and will be based upon faith until the resurrection.

There is no debate to be had about the validity of evolution... None. Evolution is a fact. It is the truth. We adjust our understanding of it occasionally, but for the most part, our understanding is solid, and proven.

What amazes me is that some Christian leaders, and pseudo-scientists, still try to spread rumors and lies about it, when they KNOW they're lying. That truly amazes me.

The heart of the problem is... the true scientists don't really feel like it's their duty to correct these people. Just like most atheists don't feel like it's their job to convert Christians. Most of them simply don't care, and they allow this ignorance to propagate itself.

There was recently a movie done about this very subject...

I'm not afraid of jokes.I laugh at them. One extra point is the fact that evolution is constantly changed to keep up with current findings .kind of a living breathing evolution theory ?While the bible is the same its always been and keeps being proved true . what a coincidence huh?

No, Christians are not afraid of evolution. Most of us even believe that it is true, though we also believe strongly in the Creation story.
