Also, what do Christians think of hermaphrodites; individuals born with body parts of both genders? Sometimes there is a toss up for the doctors and families as to which gender a person should live as.

I am not a Christian but I used to be. However I always felt it was fine to be transgendered, even as a Christian. But I know my opinion probably wasn't the norm. I'm honestly curious because it's not something widely discussed in religious circles and am not trying to pick fights at all. I'm just curious.

Have you ever questioned your "gender"? Probably not. The hatred and biased attitudes permeate this topic.

Christianity? Please. Do not quote from the bible and being any type of authority for G*d unless you practice your religion. Your religion says Sunday is a day for giving of First Fruits. You are still required to observe the Sabbath (aka: Saturday, thank you Judiasm).

Being transgendered for you un-enlightened is akin to being a leper. Jesus loved and "healed" them. Can you not support the love of the Father for ALL his children? You were forgiven for your sins outta the womb, can you not see the peace of G*d in the restoration of the troubled soul of the transgendered person?

Why most transgendered folks do not tell you is because of the shame you have placed upon them. In an idealic world, you would see so many folks come out it would surprise you and your pastor.

Please, for the sake of humanity, read your book yourself and not rely on the words of another man. Like the clerics we curse in other parts of the world, are we not doing the same? The book says to love as I have loved. Carry your neighbor as you would have them carry you. (your cross).

I think that transgendered people have to be forgiven of their sins. We can't reject them for God loves the SINNER and hated the SIN. Hermaphrodites on the other hand are born the way they are, and once the doctors and parents come to an educated, medically based decision as to how the child should live, it's only a matter of the parents taking on the responsibitiy to "train up a child in the way IT SHOULD GOD; when it grows old, it will not depart."

I personally don't buy into the transgender way of thinking...I guess I think if you were clearly born with certain sex deciding body parts and were raised as that sex, God probably knew what he was doing in making you that way. I mean, I'm sure that'd be awful to have those mixed feelings and feel like you were "passed over" so to speak, so I try and be sympathetic I guess. I would never point my finger at a transgender and say "ahh you're wrong and evil" but yeah, I guess I don't really buy into it. As far as hermaphrodites, that is really strange, and yeah, I guess I could understand them saying "I was picked to be a boy, but I really want to be a girl"--it's tough. TOUGH CALL. I just say love everybody or at least treat people with the same respect you'd like to be treated with, and leave the hard stuff, like judgement, to God.

Why would we feel any different than anyone else? Personally, I feel very bad for anyone who feels that strongly that they were born in the wrong body - what a hard thing to go through! I think it takes courage to make a choice about changing your sex, and as long as it doesn't hurt anyone, whose business is it anyway?

I also feel bad for hermaphrodites - another hard thing to go through, not only for the individual, but for the famalies as well. It must be incredibly difficult to decide what sex to raise your baby as.

I would continue to pray for these individuals and their families - NOT to save them from any supposed 'sin', but for their happiness, which they deserve just as much as anyone else.

Why would you think that I, as a Christian, would somehow perceive this to be a sin?

The feeling of being trapped in the body of the wrong gender can have roots in two places: hormonal dysfunction and spiritual. Sometimes the body through genetics has a tendency to create hormone dysfunction. If it is obvious physically that a person is male or female, then the person should seek medical advice to monitor and correct hormonal dysfunction. On the other hand many transgendered individuals suffer from spiritual "obsessions." From a Catholic point of view, there are demonic beings each with a different purpose. One may have the purpose of tempting us to steal, another to question the existence of God, another to attract us to the same sex, another to tempt us to have illicit sexual relationships outside of marriage, another to cause irrational anger, another to make us depressed and to despair, and so on. To successfully deal with this a person must constantly be on guard of these thoughts or desires and to dismiss them as soon as one thinks about them. When we take pleasure in these thoughts or dwell on them, we are only feeding the fire. I know. I am speaking from personal experience. Seek a minister or Catholic priest.

As for hermaphrodites, mostly this occurs as males who develop breasts. This is easily remedied with surgery. Normally the person knows their own gender and should seek to stay the gender they know themselves as.

I have often wondered about the Christian view of hermaphrodites myself.

Why are the doctors and parents the ones to decide how these people should be brought up? What is they are wrong?

Why teach somebody who has already made up their suggestions? As a transsexual male, i relatively do no longer care what you think of, you could regard me as any gender you like (on your head). you could think of of me as a flying spaghetti monster, or a speaking unicorn with an incredible blue horn, it won't substitute the certainty of what i in my opinion am and that's male. the only time i might ever have a concern with you or all people is that in case you disrespected my gender and intentionally referred to as me the incorrect pronoun or noted me via fact the incorrect gender, via fact despite in case you disagree, it is approximately uncomplicated courtesy and respecting how a individual identifies. Transsexualism is a shown congenital beginning disease. it relatively is all i care to declare.

Now..seriously...what kind of answers do you expect a bunch of brainwashed bigots to give you for a question like this?

I already know....

SICK, DISGUSTING, WRONG, EVIL, HELLBOUND.

This is what SO turns me off about christians.

For a person who calls themself a a loving christian to call someone with a birth-defect EVIL, SICK and WRONG....is just that...Evil, Sick and Wrong.

I hope to God that every christian who thinks this way will be judged in the exact same manner they judge others.
Religious Bigots....go to Hell. Twice.

There's a big difference between what Christians think and what Jesus taught. Many of the fundamentalists in the States are quite hateful. Jesus approached people through love.
There is a diffence between Jesus' lifestyle and that of fundamentalists, today. These people judge us, criticize us, and make us feel sad and rejected, whereas Jesus acceted people as they were and greeted them with compassion.

Personally I think transgendered individuals have mental issues. My brother in law is one. He is mutilating his body and in November is going to make the biggest mistake of his life... I wish this was illegal. It is sick and wrong and I will ALWAYS refer to my brother in law as just that, a MAN. It's just wrong~ God does not make mistakes and by saying you are transgendered is like saying that God made a mistake... Its evil, its sick, and its wrong!
