There isn't one specific question. Mostly, I don't like people asking questions that are too personal. My usual response when someone asks me something I won't answer is , "Why do you ask?" It usually stops them in their tracks.

I am unsure if this is unique to America, but in American culture advertising media has sold us on the idea that young = healthy, vibrant, and attractive while old = worn out, used up, has been. Fortunately as baby boomers begin reaching retirement age we are faced with a whole generation of older people, a large percentage of whom are in pretty good physical and emotional shape, this image is beginning to change.

There was a cosmetic ad I saw recently featuring a (very attractive) model in her late 40's early 50's (as opposed to those featuring 15 year olds pretending to be 20). The tag line: "I don't want to look good for my age, I want to look good."

I think people are far too hung up on age. What time does to our bodies is far outweighed by the wisdom we gain.

Older people think that their age has to be some kind of mystery. They don't want people to know how old they are so they appear to be younger or something.

I always say 21 when someone asks how old I am, I wonder what I'll say when I'm older than 21 (I'm 19)

oh, age. i was going to say,"what's your sign". well, i guess it's because age has nothing to do with you as a person. you are the person that you came to know upon the age of reason. you have learned much since then, but you always stay that person. people come to know themselves at different ages, usually at a very young age. chronological age has no relevance.

Because it is intrusive, some people have a hard time dealing with growing older. People ask way too many personal questions, if someone wants you to know how old they are they will tell you.

I'm not sure about the age thing..

I hate being asked 'when are you going to get married' or 'Are you pregnant again'

Because most people feel they are too old or too young.
