A Catholic, a Christian (they are not the same thing), a Moslem, a Buddhist, a Jew & an atheist all live long healthy lives.
The Catholic never misses mass, when he sins he fervently recites his hail Marys. Once in his life he'll try to travel to Rome to see the Holy of Holies, the Pope. He'll pray the Rosary. In times of great distress he'll call upon Mary mother of God to intervene on his behalf.
The Christian helps those he can. He prays to God, he does not curse, or at least tries not to, he doesn't cheat on his taxes, doesn't tell lies, doesn't lust after the flesh or material things. His life is full of good deeds.
The serious Moslem will pray five times a day facing Mecca. He'll travel to Mecca at least once in his life. He strictly observes Ramadhan, Zakaat and other religious practices.
Same goes for the Jew - different practices though
The Buddhist will meditate, seek inner peace, nirvana.
The atheist is honest, never killed anyone...just doesn't believe in God.

I've just been accused of endowing the Catholic & the Christian with more good deeds than others...my bad, I didn't mean to come off biased. It's just that it's seriously hammered into our heads in these religions that a ticket to heaven comes, among other things, by doing good works...it's almost a cliché equated with Christianity and Catholicism.
Catholicism IS a religion on its own. There are many sources that make this clear but here's one link http://www.cuttingedge.org/articles/rc120.htm
Any religion that places Mary as co-redemptrix with Jesus and teaches cannibalism is not Christian.
Apropos, Jesus Christs' followers aren't "Christians" nor "Jesuits" or whatever. It's this cubby-holing idea that only through the "Christians'" God will people get to heaven that turns so many people off the truth of Jesus Christ. The Messiah belongs to all of us...to all those who have faith in Him. Jesus didn't say "from henceforth ye shall call yourselves Christians". Man said that.

Romans 10:9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
The only condition for getting into Heaven relates to our acceptance that Jesus died for us, was raised from death by God and placing our faith in him. End of story!

The Catholics ARE Christians, dude were did you get the bible? What skism did your branch of Chrisianity break from the church from? History my friend and not the garbage you read in the chick comic books. Catholics are bible Christians in a bibical based church. It's the Truth and be Careful you're lying without knowing the full truth. We pray to God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. The Lord's prayer ohh were did you get that? The Bible? So do Catholic Christians and have been saying it for 2,000 plus years... open your mind and eyes don't be so hating
God is the judge you should know that, can't just count of Jesus to be saved very Calvinist. You will be known by your fruits and on judgement day we all will stand before God and Christians have hope through Jesus

Well I noticed something irritating about this proposal. The author endowed the Christian and the Catholics' characters with entire paragraphs of "good deeds" and held out on the others.
My answer is that the author seems bias in favor of Christians (which includes the Catholics). So the question is too problematic to be taken seriously.

Traveller, first of all, all Catholics are Christian. Not all Christians are Catholic.
Catholics do not worship Mary; they revere and honor her as Mother of Christ, and as the first Christian. After all, she was the first to say "yes to Christ."
And yes, Catholics have been known to call upon Mary to intervene. The "Hail Mary" says, "Pray for us sinners, now and in the hour of our death..." How is that different than non-Catholic Christians asking their fellow Christians to 'pray for them?' Are you going to say that Mary, who was first to accept God's Salvation Plan for Christians, has no role in our Christian walk? Is the prayer of 'run-of-the-mill-Christians' somehow more influencial than Mary's at whose request her Son performed the very first miracle mentioned in the New Testament?
Second, Catholics do not consider the Pope the 'holiest of holies.' THAT is the Blessed Sacrament where Jesus resides. Most Catholics live and die without ever coming near Vatican City in Rome. THAT plays no role in Salvation, it is just a place most Catholics would like to see.
And most Catholics don't cheat on their taxes, try not to lie, try not to lust and do try to perform good deeds and works. At least as much so as any other Christian, so stop implying that only non-Catholic Christians don't cheat on their taxes, etc., etc...
And yes, Catholics do pray the Rosary which is a meditation on the New Testament.
Finally you should know that the Catholic Church teaches that Salvation is not out of the reach of anybody regardless of religious affiliation. This includes Jews, Moslems, Buddhists, Hindus to mention a few. Even the "savage innocent," one who through no fault of his own does not know Christ, can be Saved.
The only one that cannot be Saved is he that has put himself out of the reach of Salvation by turning his back on God. In other words, if one has chosen to reject God, then why should God have anything to do with him?
If Man has built his own Paradise here on earth, than what use has he of God's Paradise?
H
And Traveller, Catholics are not cannibals. They are merely following Christ's mandate: "This is my Body, this is my Blood..." and "Do this in rememberance of me.." Of course, you would have to be a true follower of Christ to understand this.

only the ones who knows the truth and believes in it. The truth is in hearing and reading the word of GOD which is the bible and the bible says in john 14:6 JESUS answered: "i am the way and the truth and the life no one comes to the father except through me." and in john 3:16 "for GOD so loved the world that he gave HIS only SON that whoever believes in HIM shall not perish but have an eternal life . " { eternal life which means HEAVEN }.

According to Christianity:
Everyone goes to Heaven to wait Judgment.
2 Corinthians - Chapter 5:8
We are confident, [I say], and willing rather to be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord.

The man or woman that lives by the Word of God and what it teaches is the one that goes to heaven
Acknowledge GOD in all your ways and he will direct your PATHS
the bible reads :
Romans 2:11-29AMP
11For God shows no partiality [[d]undue favor or unfairness; with Him one man is not different from another].(B)
12All who have sinned without the Law will also perish without [regard to] the Law, and all who have sinned under the Law will be judged and condemned by the Law.
13For it is not merely hearing the Law [read] that makes one righteous before God, but it is the doers of the Law who will be held guiltless and acquitted and justified.
14When Gentiles who have not the [divine] Law do instinctively what the Law requires, they are a law to themselves, since they do not have the Law.
15They show that the essential requirements of the Law are written in their hearts and are operating there, with which their consciences (sense of right and wrong) also bear witness; and their [moral] [e]decisions (their arguments of reason, their condemning or approving [f]thoughts) will accuse or perhaps defend and excuse [them]
16On that day when, as my Gospel proclaims, God by Jesus Christ will judge men in regard to [g]the things which they conceal (their hidden thoughts).(C)
17But if you bear the name of Jew and rely upon the Law and pride yourselves in God and your relationship to Him,
18And know and understand His will and discerningly approve the better things and have a sense of what is vital, because you are instructed by the Law;
19And if you are confident that you [yourself] are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness, and [that
20You are] a corrector of the foolish, a teacher of the childish, having in the Law the embodiment of knowledge and truth--
21Well then, you who teach others, do you not teach yourself? While you teach against stealing, do you steal (take what does not really belong to you)?
22You who say not to commit adultery, do you commit adultery [are you unchaste in action or in thought]? You who abhor and loathe idols, do you rob temples [do you appropriate to your own use what is consecrated to God, thus robbing the sanctuary and [h]doing sacrilege]?
23You who boast in the Law, do you dishonor God by breaking the Law [by stealthily infringing upon or carelessly neglecting or openly breaking it]?
24For, as it is written, The name of God is maligned and blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you! [The words to this effect are from your own Scriptures.](D)
25Circumcision does indeed profit if you keep the Law; but if you habitually transgress the Law, your circumcision is made uncircumcision.
26So if a man who is uncircumcised keeps the requirements of the Law, will not his uncircumcision be credited to him as [equivalent to] circumcision?
27Then those who are physically uncircumcised but keep the Law will condemn you who, although you have the code in writing and have circumcision, break the Law.
28For he is not a [real] Jew who is only one outwardly and publicly, nor is [true] circumcision something external and physical.
29But he is a Jew who is one inwardly, and [true] circumcision is of the heart, a spiritual and not a literal [matter]. His praise is not from men but from God.
I hope this helps
May God add a blessing to the readers and the doers of his word

There is no heaven.Religion is the perfect con. It is government protected, tax free, and the product they sell never has to be delivered until you reach a place that doesn't exist. Little wonder so many con-men (and women) jump on that manured money wagon.
