I hate to dis my religious friends but I've really noticed that usually the more religious they are the worse they do in school, and they always seem to blame it on God that they are the way they are. "God made me dumb", they say. Or, "since I got an F, this is the way it's supposed to be, because God plans everything". To me is sounds like a bad excuse. What do you think, religious thinking correlates with lower intelligence?

45From the sixth hour until the ninth hour darkness came over all the land.
46About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?"—which means, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" (There is more but I am not listing for sake of space.)

From my experience I know that Christians think it was because God had to abandon him and put all mans sin on him to make him a sacrifice. Also that he was quoting a Psalm ( 22:1 ) to show he was the prophesied.
Now this sounds more like he just realized that God wasn't there and wasn't about to save him to me.
Now my question. How do I know that the Psalm wasn't put in after? That it was not just a poem about his death seeing as the book was written over a period of time, not all at once, and placed together when the bible was made. The entire religion is based on the bible and there is no way for me to know that it is legit after all it's changes.

Don't get offended just tell me your thoughts on it.

I believe that even those that believe in Jesus may partially agree with me. Currently there are countries that are ruled by religion that are refining uranium. History has shown that religious fanatics will use the most powerful weapon at hand to quell the infidels. Now that they have uranium, it is only a matter of time before someone kills us all in the name of their god in a bunch of atomic mushroom clouds. I personally would hope that this is a wake up call to Christians. In the end, the religious fanatics in the Middle East will actually hinder the human race. Is that what god compels you to allow? If that is not the case, then why are there so many Christians opposed to the war in Iraq?

I ain't knockin' bad grammar. I use punctuation marks incorrectly---a lot---a whole lot; especially, the semi-colon. I use the word cain't around my friends, I've probably said it around language arts buffs.

It's a tough challenge for young people to excel at English, when they get accused of trying to be proper. Could the use of good grammar at work just be considered a "survival tool?"

I mean, if good communication skills are needed (to at least be in the running for a job) how can that be considered as "selling out" when one knows that friends will not pay the bills for them for "keepin' it real?"

My friend whom I work with's ex boyfriend will not leave her alone, but he lives 2 houses down from her. The reason she left is because he started drinking and pushing her around when he was drunk. I am trying to convince her to get a restraining order before something bad happens. She is holding back because she doesnt think the police will give her one being that he lives 100 feet away.

"And the people took Folly and cast him in the fire and he was now dead and they called upon the great priest and he said, "Ye have done the Lord's work.Let not this Demon hasten your works and let all see this and know it is God's will and the day of the witch hunts shall begin anew."." I've heard of:
1. Mormons wear magic underwear - gives them supernatual power.
2. Pentecosts dance with rattlesnakes to prove their pure spirit.
3. Chrisitan scientists won't go to doctors.
4. Some Protestants believe the Pope is the anti-christ.
5. Some observe the Jewish sabbath.
6. They all think they're the chosen ones.

Any others?

I was just thinking about this when I was on the transit......if someone tried to ask you the time and you didn't know they were talking to you till they said it twice, what would you say; "Pardon me," "Excuse me," "What," or just look at them with a raised eyebrow?

Which would be most polite?

It seems like a lot of kids are obsessed with drinking (and weed/smoking/drugs but thats another topic). Why. I've drank with my friends on many occassions (15 plus-intoxicated mayb 12 of those times), and I'm sorry but I don't enjoy it at all. The sickness, the taste of the many choices of alchol, the best part is the slight buzz after your first 2 drinks but thats not even that great. I view drinking as a waste of time, and many people do it (and I know it sounds cliche) to look cool. I understand that some people do it when they're older to socialize and thats cool, but i'm talking as a way of life it's dumb and foolish and immature. But what I wanted to ask is, if I don't drink in college or for the rest of my life (I'm beginning to consider this option) is that a big deal? Will I regret it. I think watching a baseball game is fun, I think playing flag football with your friends is fun, I think drinking is not fun. Am I wrong.

If you believe Bible then you must believe the authority who put the Bible together (Catholic Church). According to the Bible, the CHURCH is the pillar of truth: 1 Tim. 3:15, 2 Peter 1:20. We need the church to interpret scripture, not us or else...30,000 christian denominations. thoughts>
