There are some interesting answers here. One common thread amongst the "scientific types" is the need to belittle or insult me for asking the question, which only has the effect of placing their answers into the "childlike" category, where they belong.

Will those answering please refrain from the kiddy-playground type of response used by "hope_sinks".

Thanks to the mature members amongst us who can read the true meaning of the question and not just resort to copying and pasting a canned answer from their local college website.

yes!!! thank you !!! u are not stupid this is a great question and it's why I believe in God -- maybe its not in a man form - but scientifically there had to be a force to make the "bang" happen - energy does not come from nowhere -so there is some force making all things grow and move - a "bang" could not scientifically happen from stillness

I assume you are joking, but nonetheless, it was not an explosion like a grenade. It was the expansion of all the matter in the universe after it had been drawn in by gravity to such a point that the energy held within was so great that it created an outward force, and it all went whoosh and outward. but not necessarily whoosh.

There was never a "Big Bang", time and space have always existed. With techology and knoweldge we have we are years away from the answer about the age of the universe. There was matter before so called "Big Bang", if there was matter there was time and space.

If we knew all the answers we'd know the meaning of life. Nobody knows what happened at the dawn of time, not even Christians. The only person who knows is the only person who can time travel.

Chuck Norris.

Einstein theory of energy creates matter
A huge build up of energy that explodes into matter
But there had to be a first cause, a power source to start the energy buildup to the explosion point.
Kind of like electricity creates power to run your computer.
Gasoline creates power to run your car

My question would be.....
Where did the stuff come from that supposedly "banged" really big?

I mean , even it this theory were true, there still had to be a start

You are assuming there was a fuse. Before the big bang there was nothing. God spoke and BANG it happened.

Maybe.

Just concluding an invisible magic being did it hardly seems like an honest conclusion.
