what say you to the pestering thought that "people are giving themselves too much credit, there is no god, there is no soul, we are just things trying to apply some meaning to our lives." things along those lines.

they call us all stupid, ignorant, backwards, and we are all either members of the KKK, or we hate blacks, or something negative like that?

My yankee friend wanted to discuss "something intelligent" like space science or rockets, and I gleefully reminded him about one of the major space science research centers in Huntsville, Ala-dam-bama! and he had nothing to say.

Or, he thinks that if you ride around in a truck, have a Southern accent, eat grits, and say "dawg", it automatically makes you sound stupid.

He won't even listen to me when I try to tell him of the wonderful things the South has that they don't have up North.

I have been up north, and quite frankly, I was not impressed- smelly cities, rampant crime, no trees, garbage on the streets, and other treats the big city has to offer.

Any opinions?

I have been reading some other questions and I can't help but get a little upset. It seems many 'christian' people are fiercely against homosexuals. I respect that everyone has a right to their own opinion, but how can people that claim to live a life for God have so much animosity in their hearts? I see where people blatantly admit that gays should burn in hell. Are these the feelings God would want us to have towards other human beings? Gay marriage is illegal, and I know I'm opening a can of worms here, but if it is illegal because of moral and ethical reason and the bible says it is wrong, then why isn't divorce illegal? Don't you think divorce is affecting our country just as much, if not more, than homosexuals? And why don't we just condemn everyone we consider a sinner? How about the wealthy, shall they burn in hell too? The bible clearly states that no rich man shall get to heaven. Before we choose our stones we should realize that we're all in glass houses.

what would you do if a family member that you truely despise (for many good reasons) said to you,that they were family to YOUR kids and there was nothing you could do about it? like your wifes brother or your husbands sister,and that relative was in prison for lewd acts and molesting a minor child and there was alot of other BAD history with this person! what would you do if they actually had the nerve to tell you that your kids were their family and he/she could be around them as much as he/she wants?

i can be a bad peson and still get into heaven if i accept jesus and believe he died for my sins? even if all my life i am a bad person and on my death bed i repent?

wether its politically, socially or any other way christians ARE being attacke for their beleifs. its not because their holy book claims that itll happen at the end of day, its because christians have a way of making things better for themselves while leaving everything crappier for everyone else.

example 1. in africa christian missionaries go to villages and spread their disease...i mean their religion...they teach that if people dont beleive they will be sent to hell to be burned and tortured for all of eternity. then when theyre done theyre off to waiting busses and planes that whisk them off to suburbia!

example 2. the bush cabinet. conservatives have come into power, spawning off some sort of green light that allowed many other conservatives out of the woods and into open fields. suddenly the religious right feel that because theyre in power they can do as they please. gay marraige is illegal, abortion could become illegal.

Seriously you can't change my mind because my orientation is not a choice (don't claim it's a choice in your answer, it is a waste of everyone's time).
