No, but the religious right is becoming more powerful and it is entirely possible in the future.

Muslim countries are adopting religion as their secular law too, but the US has been totally against it. This may be one instance where 'what is good for the goose is NOT good for the gander'

Additionally, this was already tried in Salem, Massachusetts - a lot of innocent men and women were declared witches and publicly hung by the deeply religious 'Christian' of the day!

First I am a church going christian. An the answer is NO!

The founder fathers of this country are turning over in their graves. They came here and formed this nation to avoid religious prosecution. They founded this nation on freedom of religious beliefs, not the bible.

This nation houses people from around the world that believe in different religions, not just Christians. It was founded on freedom. The founding fathers knew that people would change and in order to allow this country to change it formed the Constitution and our current system of government. It allows for changes that the people find necessary, not the christian bible.

It has worked great for 200+ years. If you do not like the laws that are in place, then vote and change them. However do not expect the millions of people who are not christian or who are christian and do not believe the same as you to support it. This is not the Vatican, and it is not ruled by the bible, but by the people.

No way, because the laws we have now are great, they are accepting of all people. Where as the bible even though it has it's good points it can also be rude, judgemental, and too many people will misconstrude the wording of the bible to justify their own actions of hate. It is not a good idea.

Uh, NO, the laws of the Bible don't go in depth enough for today's societal needs and issues. And this question is definitely in the wrong category.

FYI, I have a law degree and my partner is a Sunday school teacher!

No. Of course not. That would run contrary to why the US was founded. Among many other things, America was established to be free FROM religious oppression and rule.

If the US adopted a theocratically based government, it would be no better than Iran and other religiously ruled countries.

Are you not aware of anything that is going on around you? Watch the news and read a newspaper. You will see that is already happening. "Lets make marriage for one MAN and one WOMAN". Our society and the laws that are inplace co-opperate with the laws of the bible.

The chosen people asked God if they could have a leader to decide for them and God gave them many. Not that many were worthy to be called leaders by the way they treated the people, but some were because they led with Gods Guidance. We need to have God given leaders, not consumer given leaders if we want peace in our world. Most laws should be reviewed till their not needed anymore but mankind thinks laws are God given and their not.

It is not God, but humans interpretation of what God meant that should scare everyone. A big NO on this since the bible has already been so misinterpretted, so it can be used for control and manipulation.

Should we sell our children? Should we cut off our hands if they don't bare fruit? Should we kill rape victims because they lost their virginity outside of marriage? Should we go back to the sun revolving around the earth? Should we marry our parents and sleep with them if one were to die? Should we pray to a being that never answers? (no, you don't have proof that he ever answers) So ask yourself these questions, then tell me... Would you?
