Finding God is definately the meaning of life, perhaps the only one. You have a number of days to realise who the creator is, and what he offers to you for the afterlife. Sometimes, people don't understand that this life is only 100 +/- years long, but the afterlife is an eternity. This is the trial period is which God sees whether or not you have the humility to accept that something bigger created this beautiful place, and holds a special place in Heaven for you if you should choose to accept it. All the rest of life (on this Earth) is a bonus.

There are always arguments that God does not exist and that science has now found that when people experience God that it is just some chemical reaction in the brain. However, for anyone that follows Christ, knows in their hearts and minds that this is not the case.
There have been too many miracles and answer to prayers that I have seen that prove to me more and more that God is God and that it is not some meaning for my life. Sure I can say that God is the meaning to my life, thus proving your statement that God is the thing that I am searching for, however it goes beyond that.
God is THE truth and there is no way around that. Sure there are other religions that try to tell you that their way is the only way, but it does not have the Gospel truth in it. Since they do not have the truth in them, they are simply giving instructions to people on how they are to live their life with no real truth, foundation or saving grace.

I am not a Christian but I will answer anyways. For the sake of argument that what you said is true. I still would rather believe then not believe. It gives me the feeling of meaning and purpose. I feel like I on the right path and I am safe. I feel so much better about my life and were I am going in life then I did before. So even if it was not true, I would still prefer to live as if it was.
Just to let you know I do believe in God and am a very religious person. I answered your question on a what if theory, but I don't believe that theory. But I am also not the type of person to say you're going to hell for saying such things and start throwing verses at you. If you are going to hell, I will leave that to God.

dear New Creation 715,
To some people yes, it all depends on how you feel. Some feel that God is ever present and that he is wonderful and great. Others feel that he was something made up for humans to find comfort and feel like their not as alone in the universe. I found that if their is a God good, who says we have to choose a religion just to believe in him? Like Catholicism says that it's a sin to be gay, when i would think that God wouldn't really feel that way about someone he loved write? So it all comes down to you...what do you think. When you've come up with an answer let me know. ---aArOn

I am a born-again Christian that attends church regularly and I believe in Jesus. I dont think its giving ourselves credit but giving the lord 'his props' for creating us,earth, the freedom of choice. I have seen many blessings and disappointments in my life and I owe it all to God. I tithe regularly and always see a benefit even when times were so hard we didn't know what we'd do. Let's say, for arguments sake, why would you want to believe in nothing. God can offer you a life and after life of happiness what's the other option? I hope this helps...

The current "definitions" of God, I believe, are just a reason to "find meaning in life". In other words, the doctrines & different theologies of the major world religions have essentially CREATED God to fit & suit their own worldviews. People interpret "Divine" works such as the Bible in ways which fit their needs & agenda.
So, although I do believe there is a Divine "Being", yet it is something, as mortal human beings, we can neither identify, name, describe, nor understand. Because we cannot possibly even phathom "God", we have created the "religions" which provide us with the answers our psyches so desperatley need.

Nothing happens without a reason. The concept of something happening even though nothing caused it is a paradox. If we were actually pointless, we wouldn't exist. I know some people will say "You happened because of your parents, and they happened because of theirs, etc.", but then wha was responsible for the world being created at all? The Big Bang? What was responsible for that super-dense pinprick of matter? In the end, smething must have created all of that, without having been created itself, and it must have intended to be the way it was. That's what I worship, the Creator, and I know my life's purpose is to give him glory.

"people are giving themselves too much credit,"
That couldn't be more of an inaccurate statement about people who believe in God.
As believers all credit, glory, and praise are to God.
God is the reason to the meaning of life, when you have a relationship with Him and an understanding of His Word all of your answers are right there.
We are physical and spiritual beings. The spirit is more than capable of functioning without the flesh, on the other hand the flesh is absolutely not capable of functioning without the spirit.

God is the reason for life. Life is a gift from God.
Death is a calling from God.
Salvation is the Eternal Gift.

JUST a reason to find meaning in Life.
But actually no it's about a relationship with someone who loves you more deeply and more wholly than anyone on this earth could possibly love you.
