Dear,
I attain my spiritual gift by learning, by suffering, by developing, by making good deeds and by learning from my mistakes and by praying.

It was a natural characteristic I was born with and as I became a Christian (truly following Christ and not just a religious pew holder) it blossomed into a full service ministry through the workings of the Holy Spirit. My spiritual gift is encourager. I'm always thinking ahead of birthdays, anniversaries, or someone facing surgery, or families needs that might arise because of known circumstances, and asking people to aid in bringing hope and encouragement to that family during this time. My Moma says I've always been the one to walk up to a total stranger and just say, you look like you could use a hug today, would you like mine? Of course, we didn't used to feel we had to be so protective of our children. She said I lit up many a face as a growing child and into my teen years and now she sees the same lit up faces when I introduce her to people. When God gives you the gift it will be such a natural part of who you are, you may not even recognize it as a spiritual gift, but in Christ it is.

When I started my Christian quest it was with a charismatic church, so naturally I received the gift of tongues (during a worship service), tho now as a Baptist I seldom use it. Other gifts came up as I needed them. Right now I'm trying to exercise the word of wisdom as I answer these questions.

Spiritual Gifts are given out be God as He sees fit, you can pray and ask for certain gifts but God knows what's best for us.

2 Corinthians 12: 4 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6 There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men.

7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 8 To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues.11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.

Sometimes we have gifts and don't even know we have them. You may have the gift of healing or tongues or discerning of dreams and not even know it. If you DO know you have one of these gifts, give it back to God by using it in the body of Christ
