My husband just told me that we are going out tonight with his friend and his friend's girlfriend. I don't mind going with the guys but the girlfriend freaks me out. She is always getting way too close to me and asking strange questions about things that I like or don't like. She hasn't come right out and made any sexual remarks exactly, but she is always trying to hug on me or hang on me. If we knew each other well I wouldn't be freaked out, but I have only met her three times for less than 10 min. each time. This behavior from her started the second time I met her. I am not into women and if she were totally forward about it I would have no problem with telling her to back off...but in case I am reading too much into it I don't want to be rude. YIKES...What is a girl to do? My husband knows that I am not comfortable with her but I don't think he realizes how much she gives me the creeps. Any advice?

Spanish-speaking employees of my husband's restaurant always use Ud. form with me.Can I convince them not to?

Though I speak Spanish, I am not confident in such nuanced cultural matters as the one I've described. I am uncomfortable with these men using the Usted form with me because I know they would not want me to do the same. It sets up a strange sort of classist situation.

I have asked them to please use "tu" when we're talking, but their reactions always seem to show they're uncomfortable with the idea. Am I asking them to do something that negates a part of what they would consider "bien educado"? Might it just be a matter of time and/or familiarity until they are convinced that not only am I fine with "tu", I'd actually prefer it?

I appreciate any help here, especially from people who grew up speaking Spanish. Thank you!

Can chrisitans get anymore pathetic?

Its so pathetic to see them say "your going to hell and i'm going to heaven". There so stupid. Theres no after life, so is that statement suppose to hurt me? Ya, keep telling yourself your going to "heaven", but the truth still stands that theres no after life no matter how many times you say there is.

Christians, if we are descendants of Adam and Eve, why are there different blood types?

The blood types in most humans are O, B A and AB. Add the Pos or Neg Rhesus factors and you get a multitude of different blood types. Now, with only one base pair (Adam and Eve) this is impossible.
Now when you understand that these blood types stretch across phenotypes, your myth about these two "parents" becomes even more laughable.
And for those who talk about Mitochondrial DNA, please get some basic education about the subject. I've included a link just for you. That way you wont look like a total retard when you post about something that you have no knowledge of. Hopefully the big words won't hurt your heads too much. That is, IF you actually read it. (I'm not holding my breath here, most of you are intellectually barren anyway.)

Muslims : If Allah, is All Loving and All merciful, who was he merciful to, before man was created?

Mercy is a two way thing .. There has to be two living organisms for mercy to exist.

Help me defend this argument : Who was Allah merciful to, before creation ? Was it the angels..houries ? Were they not his creation too ?

Do you think babies smell funny?

I don't mean the smell of feces, urine or vomit; those are recognizable smells that any human can have. I mean that special weird smell that infants have, even when they are clean (and, no, it's not the baby grooming products); I find it repulsive, and know two others who also find it...disagreeable. I'm wondering if anyone else here knows this nasty smell, and agrees that it is unpleasant.

No offense meant to any infants reading this, of course.

Does anyone believe in "spiritual strongholds"?

I am a church girl. Grew up in church all my life. In my early 20s, I was going through a real tough time in my life and I strayed away from God and got involved with someone who was not saved. I am going back to church now and so far there is nothing I haven't done to get my ex to stop calling me. I went as far as changing my phone number and he got it. Honestly, the only thing left is for me to call the cops and have him arrested for stalking. Do you think this is something spiritual?

One more religious question for today.?

Where or who did this phrase come from, "The greatest trick the devil pulled was making the world believe he didn't exist"? Just curious, I have heard if a few times in my life and have never been able to find out where it came from.
